Does anyone own one of these Seagate portable units and know what drive is inside?

I'm look at the 40gb 2mb model, I want to harvest the drive out of it for another project and then put a different drive I have into it.

Question I have is do you know if the drive inside is PATA or SATA?

I checked Seagate's site and none of the tech docs explain what's inside the enclosure. I am actually looking for PATA.

Thanks

Its a sealed up USB external. Not meant for someone to harvest the internals. Good luck taking it apart correctly and getting it to work fine. Buy a cheap 3.5, or even 2.5 notebook drive and get an external enclosure with esata, or usb/firewire if needed.

Everything is meant to be taken apart. :)

Got a big drive in an older laptop that doesn't need it, a cheap one like this will give me a smaller drive in the laptop and a bigger external drive for cheap. But only if PATA, which i'm guessing at this point, it isn't.

Most externals I've seen are IDE...

Don't know, but you could get a 2.5" ATA drive like this for about the same price.

and then one of these for portable use.
