Is the driveshaft in the Marauder a one piece? I know the Mark VIII's had a weird vibration issue due to a two piece design that is magnified if agressive gears are installed. Wondered if the same is true for the Marauder...
Also, is there much of a benefit to changing the driveshaft to a performance one if you are not changing gears?

The Marauder driveshaft is one-piece.
There's no benefit to replacing it if you keep the stock gears, unless you add massive power (like from a blower or nitrous...)

if you leave the stosck drive shaft in the car add gears and a tune the vibration from the drive shaft will ruin the tailshaft bushing causing the tailshaft to leak. the factory drive shaft is only rated for 128 mph. a tune shuts off the governer allowing this leak issue to happen.

Is this what those drive shaft loops are for?

No, the loop is used to prevent the d/s from dropping to the ground if the yoke or the front u-joint were to break.

In addition, if you change gears, the shaft turns more RPM's per given MPH - also ruining the tailshaft bushing, but at lower speeds.
The loop is a 'cage'. it does not touch or modify the shaft in any way. As RF stated it is merely to keep the front of the shaft from falling to the ground and messing up the track... I mean causing catastrophic damage to the rear of the car should the tailshaft or front u joint completely fail.

Dennis R. has a reasonably priced 6061 Aluminum shaft that has served me well for over 20K NA with 4.10's and for about 7K SC w/4.10's. Still going strong.

Mythbusters did a piece on what would happen if the front of the d/s came loose and lodged in a hole...it wasn't pretty. The car was pretty much totalled...

I am assuming that the loss of a governer with a tune is only an issue if you consistently take the car above 128 MPH (assuming stock gears and no major power adders).
BTW, how much power can you gain from a chip?

Yeah, I saw that. That car was messed up!
