They had a crackdown in BC. $100 fine per 1kph over the limit. That is .625 MPH. Go 63 in a 60 zone and your fine would be $300. Go 63 in a 30 zone and you get a $3300 fine.

Never saw a single person receive those during the blitz. Business as usual here.

They "reserved the right" to do so, mainly enforced in Richmond (Hong Kong Canada) due to Cst. Jummy Ng's death a few years back at the hand of cowardly street racers. He was driving through a green light, other civi cars in front and behind. He got t-boned, was left for dead. The Civic that hit him in the middle of his CVPI driver's door was doing close to 140km/h. (That's about 85 miles an hour.) The driver somehow survived, went to Jimmy's body as he lay dying, and then fled in his racing buddies' BMW.
