I've been thinking aobut getting a Lightning.

Now up here they, like all cars, tend to be more expensive.

There is a local one, blue 2003 that they are asking $30K for. 37,000 miles.

There is another close buy, North but same province, Silver 2001 asking $26K. 31,000 miles.

Another Black Next province over, 1999 with around 90,000 miles asking $17K

and one in Quebec, 1999 with 95,000miles they want $16K.

yes ironic one red, black, blue and silver.

So if you were looking at getting a Lightning which would you pick?

1Cdn$=1USA$

OK I just found five more listed under SVT not Lightning.

Prices are not better.

2001 from Quebec, 97,000miles, for $18K. Silver.

2003 white in the middle of Alberta, 67,000miles for $31K.

2004 blue in Edmonton, middle of Alberta, for the laughable price of $38K but only 26,000miles.

2001 red in Mid BC for $27K with 30,000miles on it.

and a 2004 Blue in southern Alberta for $34K with 44,000miles.

2001 red in Mid BC for $27K with 30,000miles on it.

sound like the best deal.

All of them seem really overpriced, but that could be because you're in canadia.

I can't say about the other colors, but my Red '02 F-150 has got a terrific paint job on it. It's one of those short bed ones with fenders that looks like a Lightning, only mine's a 4X4 with a 5sp. For now, it's only got 110,000 miles on it. One of these days, I'll take down to Dennis and have him drop a mamouth crate motor in it.

As for L's, everyone overprices them. FWIW Godfather, 97k for $18k is a rip off if you ask me. And yes, the Blue L's look much better IMO.

I was driving behind a Red Lightning today. I didn't want to end up at a light next to it though, it would have killed my DTR.

Although I doubt the guy would have raced, he had his spare tire on.
Where do Lightnings have their spare tire?

The spare tire is under the bed of the truck, at the back (behind the lic. plate)...

I always take my time, researchin everything, eventually sitting in one, then I go for a test drive, sometimes I don't but not very often. I usually find something I like, and several I like but don't fit into, along the way. Other times my needs change and I can't use what I like anymore, or i need something else.

It only took me 3 years to like the Marauder and 3 more to buy one. I sometimes wish I could have had one earlier, when my Dad was alive, but I couldn't afford one then. He would have loved it.

I will likely buy a Lightning or something else depends on needs situation now and in the future and whatever else comes along or happens. Who knows maybe I will find the Ford Flex to be a better option or the MKT. I may find a Fomula Firebird from 2002 which does what I want. Maybe a Navigator or Super V8 Portfolio will grab my attention. I don't see how I could use or would want either right now but things change.

That is the great thing about progression, things change, sometimes for the better, often not. Some great things from the past show up again and need to be celebrated, other times improvements are made that make things unusable.

Power Sunroofs, big centre consoles and Dash consoles that stick out and get in the way of my knee, are examples of stupid things that keep me from driving the majority of current cars.

T roofs, knee room, and bench seats are now all but gone. How I miss them, yet if I want them I need an older car or maybe a Lightning.
A T roof would be great on a Lightning.

Don't worry I will pose a question to reinforce a desire of mine at some point and then, like my snow tires, I will buy them and post a picture or two.

i would go for the red one, newest, and least miles. owned early years, and this is important,FACTORY RECALL LEAKING INTAKE PART OF SUPERCHARGER,what a mess getting fixed on a new truck. i cant remember what year for, but maybe, can find that factory recall, the truck would not show leak, ford changed intake, and supercharger,no charge . we all know first year, somestimes a problem. thanks ralph sr.

Not trying to hijack your thread, but just thought I'd let you know we are beginning to build the Flex here in Oakville with Job1 April 7. Next years model will offer a single turbo and also a twin-turbo V6. My coworkers that just came back from Detroit say the twin is great with over 400hp!
My wife may need to trade her Focus ZTW by then, I hope.

Seems I'm drawn back to the Fords again. Only the lightning seems to be the last of the Fords I like, layout wise.

Bench Seat, Column shift, two door, RWD with plenty of power. Add to that the 6.5 foot box and hey it is great.

If it was Marauder, RED or blue well then.

You do realize that there are 3 times as many DTR's as there are DBP's.

327 x3 = 981.

Well I had a look at a 2003 Lightning today.

It is a very good fit. The seats are like they were made to measure.

All in all very impressive.

Now i just need to save my penny's.

Aren Jay

It really isn't a bench seat.

It is more a drivers seat and a semi half bench for the passenger and possible middle seat, which also doubles as an armrest and console when folded down.

Very comfortable.

I do have a lightning question for you lightning owners.

Where do or how do you keep your foot up of the gas pedal.

There seems to be no where to rest your foot, when you don't want to go really fast.

driving in parking lots or the like.

Yes I can understand how you might like to keep your foot on the accelerator all the time but some times you just can't.

Do you make a foot rest lip or sand the smoothplastic to rough it up and rest your foot while driving?

Maybe this is a tall persons problem.

Aren Jay
03-31-2008, 10:05 PM
I can look that up else where. (thus I deleted my question)

I just found a 2003 Lightning in town. This one is 5K less than the blue one but it is black. It also has only 21000miles on it. Half of the blue.

Now I was thinking about this and whether I could drive something that was all black.

Yes yes Black is a bad colour, but then again.

Anyway I was thinking aobut this and it never donned on me till just about 10 minutes ago.

I could have a Black Lightning. This means nothing to you but I have been playing DnD the pen and paper game for about 28 years. Now I have many 100's of Characters but I still know and occasionally use my first 2 characters. My second character is my let off steam EVIL character. Goes by the name Black Lightning. Maybe it is destiny and maybe I really should have an Evil Truck to blow off steam.

A Black Lightning.

Did the truck have those seat covers, or did you just find that picture off the 'net, somewhere? Here's what it should look like:
http://www.qwksvt.com/Pics/Seats.jpg

If there are seat covers, check to ensure the seats underneath are still in good condition... There was a problem experienced by many of the... uhm... heavier owners (myself included), where a bar in the driver's seat felt like it was protruding through the seat foam. If uncorrected, it would prematurely wear the seat (just under the left thigh). I had it repaired, with additional bolstering, while still under warranty.

I qualify as tall, but I don't have a problem, at all... I'm easily able to keep the heel of my foot on the floor, and tap the pedal with my toes... Perhaps the solution to this problem is my sz16 shoe? :D

Canadasvt - funny you should bring the Oakville sign up - I was just driving past the plant a few weeks ago, and noticed that, too.

Aren Jay

Must be my screwed up ankles. in Mini vans and trucks I can't seem to pull my toes up with my heal on the floor infront of the gas pedal. I can rest it against something if there is something there, or in a car the angle is such that I can push my foot forward fine but when I pull up it just doesn't work that well.

Or maybe everyone else is just odd. Yeah that must be it.
