***did My First Mod ..!!!!!!!!!!

I have had my 03 black marauder almost a year now. ( 50k) I love everything about it. I am a college student and money is tight but I have been saving and just did my first small mod. I did the JLT intake. I love it sounds awesome when you get on it. I think after doing it I caught the bug everyone talks about. Wanting to more and more.! :) I just ordered the standard tune from Mr. Reinhart the Dynotech Driveshaft and the Pro Guard rear skid plate (http://reinhartautomotive.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=12345&Product_Code=MM-Proguard&Category_Code=9) just to be safe. I cant wait to get all my goodies in the mail and see how much the tune will make a difference.
O by the way :bows: Mr. Reinhart is awesome I talked to him on the phone and he knows everything there is to no about the Marauder. Great guy…!

What do you guys think I should do next..???

the tune will really wake the car up and you will be pleased but the gears seem to be the next most standard mod...mine wiil be going in this spring sometime

I was thinking about either doing the 4.10’S first or the KOOKS headers CAT back system first. I live right next to KOOKS. They said the Factory Tailpipe:Headers,X Pipe with Cats and Mufflers with the install would be $2200. What do you think??

But seriously.... get gears. Then looking into Rear Control Arms. Zacks are good, as are the PHP and Metcos.

After those, think of the direction you want the car to go in, Boost, Nitrous or Naturally Aspirated.

It seems that everyone loves doing 4.10s and its not that expensive to do compared to the headers. I saw the gears for $260.00 on Reinhart. My mechanic down the road said he would install them for 200.00. Is that a reasonable price ?

Mr. Reinhart said he would send me an email to download into the tuner for the 4.10s. So the car will recognize them. ( Speedometer reading and all )

Does this all sound right to you guys??

Enjoy it man, and take pictures, as a college student with low funds I feel ya. I bolted on my JLT and the bug itches me when ever I get a moment to think.

Wow, they're in NY! I never knew! Its going on my list for stuff to acquire since they're relatively close and can do the welding work, though it'll take me a while to gather the cash to put it on.

And as for the next mod, a tune or 4.10s are popular, but as I wanna get back on the engine, I'm going for UDs and a water pump.

damnnn.. i'm jealous.. wish i didnt jump on the first mm i saw. i ended up gettin a mm with a rebuilt title and the paint is really startin to piss me off. also the bondo is crackin in spot cause of the 13.5 JL W7 and 1000 to one amp that rattles the car... anyways yea all i got is a k&n intake, i am going for the 4.10's and posi traction and a tune. not sure what tune i wanna get though. what would you guys suggest?

You can't go wrong with either, both Lidio and Reinhart. They are great tuners for MM, though I've been leaning towards going with Lidio, and hey, since Billy's already got Reinhart and is stock save for the JLT like me, maybe we can finally have it out on what tune goes best.

I take it you mean Massachusetts, but hey, I went all the way to North East Penn. to get mine, after the couple MM's I saw in NYC were beat to hell, and the one MM that I had gone a good ways up the Hudson to check out and buy was sold out under me, I jumped on my 03 and never looked back, seems I lucked out when compared to dankwun.

Also you get any driveshaft loops to go with that new shiny drive shaft of yours?

Got plenty of pics in my gallery in the photo section (http://www.mercurymarauder.net/showcase/browseimages.php?c=3&userid=8203) and hey see if you can find any of the factory rubber bands still on the engine, I found two and heard that there may be three. And bought 'er with 28,773 on the clock, and when I changed the oil sat, it had 29,777.

Oh, and I guess you may have me on distance, 133 miles and 2 and half of driving for me. But at least we both had to traverse the curvature of the earth to get to our MMs. And I've never seen some many state police with radar in my life on my way back and forth.

And not sure if they are necessary but I remember hearing they were good for stabilizing the huge chunk of metal churning under the floor panels when at high speeds.

And yeah the more the merrier at the All Ford Nationals (June 4th - 6th). I thought I'd have only have Blackened from queens to convoy with. Make sure when you register, you register with "mercurymarauder.net" as the group. We have a tent this year. And drop a line in the registration thread here too. Don't know where they put it though, I remember it being moved around, and it might be in the upcoming events forum.

heh, I like and respect the mid 90s impala SS, and had it been in my time I might be driving IT instead of the MM, as I like the similar lines, stance, power and rarity. But I think you might be out gunned in here buddy, especially the Imp-stomping members if they see that.

So today I just finished installing the new drive shaft and the tune from Reinhart. ( x CAL 3 ) With the tune I didn’t see a crazy amount of power out of it but the shifts were MUCH, much FERMER. I would say a LIL faster. The revs are a lot higher. He tuned it for the JLT intake. I think ill see more power gains when I get the KOOKS installed. But overall I like the way the tune is set up.. :)

4.10s I am doing when i get back from vacation the end of next week.

Thats why I work 11 hour days. I want the headers but the cost is a bit out of reach at this moment. I have too many events coming up this year for me to swing it.

I would never be able to afford the KOOKS headers but this year I got a good tax return so the state and federal government are giving me my money back to buy the KOOKS.. LOL :)

My marauder was a daily driver with 4.10s and a convertor and I didnt notice much of a difference in mileage. Im figuring that you may loose 3mpg with those mods.
I didnt buy this car for gas economy.
