It's very good. I looked at having one put in my 03 when I bought it. Would've been $1000.

What happened? Who was doing the install?

Yes there and plenty of aftermarket install centers. Check with your local L&M of Ford Dealer.

There's a place on rte 100 and 30 in Exton, PA I believe, just North of Eagle along 100.
Dealers take their cars there.
Not sure if it's close to "Marauderville, MD" as I'm don't know where that is.

Anybody actually installed an"aftermarket" one? How'd it work out and what did it cost? I'd worry about leaking and loss of headroom.

Paymer & Phillips in Laurel, MD.
When I worked at Academy Ford which was right down the road from there that's where they took all the vehicles that needed a sunroof and they did a really good job. Nice feature they add is if the sunroof is open when they vehicle is turned off it will automatically close so you really can't forget and leave it open in case it rains or something.
I've thought about getting one myself and would only take it there.

Webasto is the company that makes the roof for Ford. The model is the Holliandia series. I called St. Thomas to see about having a roof put in my Sport last year, he pretty much told me that the Webasto is what the factory uses and... they don't put them in on the assembly line, it goes to a outsource facility.
I got mine done for 1K and tax.

Actually there are two ways to go. The automatic factory one is made by Wabasto and there is a nationwide dealer network, installing under various names. The thing about these styles is that they intrude into the cabin, lowering headroom about three inches, and are fraught with problems, depending upon the competence of the installer.
The other option is far simpler and less costly, in that it's a simple pop-up product that has removable glass. I had this style (factory install) in my 88 Mustang and loved it.
I had the Factory installed automatic retracting Moon Roof in a '93 T'bird and it leaked on our way back from the dealership the night we picked it up, and was a problem until we got rid of the car. Also, we had them installed in two Ford Explorers and both had problems.

Is it worth cutting a hole in your roof!!!!

It is for me...although I bought it new from the dealership with the moonroof, but as stated above....they were not installed on the factory line. I have never had a problem with mine and I use it almost everyday...cept when it rains or is really cold outside.

One more thing. I see you have a 300A, which means you have the long overhead console. The Moonroof would require modification or replacement of the console. Swapping for a shorter '04 overhead console is a difficult option as I recall.
Perhaps the removable glass pop-up style may not cause problems with the console you have now..

I think you have to get a new head liner anyway so that wouldnt be much of a problem...a new headliner because of the space needed for the moonroof and the mechanical parts.

I think it takes away from the looks of the car myself. Dad has one in his 87 Turbocupe and as i was growing up i dont think we used it much if any and now that its a guarge queen it never gets opened but last year when i detailed it i opened it to clean and mad all kinds of noise. Does anyone know if this is a factory installed option because the roof is rolled over? It looks factory but then again i did not know marauders had to have dealer installed moonroofs either. Any help on this would be great.
A Pic in case anyone doesnt know what im talking about.

All the aftermarket ones I have seen or had have required a tube of silicone to seal the damn things shut after a year due to junk quality and install! Dealer only or no hole hole at all. my .02

I had a '79 Cutlass Supreme with a factory sunroof. The original was leaking a little, so I decided to get it fixed. Well, the repair was worse! Bad workmanship.
Now my brother had a pop up type. I think made by a company owned by 3M. That never leaked. Just don't go to watch it being put in. It's brutal.

My local company that did mine has been doing them for years, mostly in Cadillacs, but they do other cars as well, they stood behind the labor for 5 years. Also, the guy that installed mine had a 4.6 Cobra, seemed as though we "hit it off" so to speak, he was a Ford man all the way.

OOPS! I forgot, the '05 Aviator has one, and it works just fine, although never used, and, as I recall, so did the '03. There is a headroom issue for me, though, even in an Explorer sized vehicle. (I'm 6'4")
