Not in New Jersey. However if use any type of card the price is 2-3 cents higher.

I noticed MA has started doing this as well. I've noticed every Shell/Mobil have been doing this the past week. I mean, it's not like we're paying enough for gas, these bastards want more money from us for using our debit card. How many American's use cash a lot anymore, honestly? I use my DC for everything.

Yep, Paul, I learned about this scam also, but only when using our debit card. Apparently, there's no "fee" when you use a credit card. I couldn't get a reasonable explanation as to why the bastages do this, but my Debit card stays in the wallet, these days.

There's another reason to keep the Debit card tucked, though. A perp can clean out your bank account if he has your debit card info, but there's a limit ($50) I think to how much loss you can suffer from credit card theft.

I haven't seen any of those charges here in FL. I use one Citgo and one Hess that are close to home primarily. We don't travel much.

A Hess station I use up the road charges $1.00 but then it goes back on the account. They use it to test the card before actually letting you pump to ensure it's a good card.

I never use my bank card's debt feature when getting gas, always use the credit feature.

It's called a Pre-Authorization. You're not getting charged a dollar. Check your records, you'll see you get it back.

There is a charge to the retailer if you use a Credit Card it ranges from about 2% or more if you use it. They also charge us if you use a debit card but it is not as much. The cc card companies make a lot of money on the fees as they manage to collect on both ends. Pay pal also charges us 3% when you use them. Hope this helps you guys understand the system!

Problem around here is if you want to pay cash you have to pre-pay. And if you want to fill up all the way you better know how much it will take since you have to pre-pay.

We have a discount card that gives us .10 off gas, for every $50 spent on groceries, when you present your discount card at the pump, they turn the pump on, and you fill up with cash, no pre-pay. They know who you are by your card.

I still have to use gas ... but at the rate it is going up .... maybe burning cash may be cheaper. ;) The you will have to get tunes for 91, 93, 100, 110 and $1, $5, $10, and $20 bills.
