The bottom rights have a Chuck influence. Just get the chucks because their cheap and you can get a new pair ever 6 months... I do. You can get some for like $35, I'm sure the ones you are looking at probably exceed that. The bottom line is:

I only want them for in car use.

I like the $75 brown ones, because of the velcro closures, and because they don't have the circus wagon look. And although they're not as inexpensive as Dom's All Stars (black, of course) it doesn't seem a bad price for quality footwear. I may try a pair myself, as the simultaneous contact with the brake and gas pedal issue has returned. :eek:

I have a pair of Piloti spyders, and Lugs funkmaster flex something...(they were cool in high school). The Lugs' are very comfy and have alot of weight in the heel (and gel), but I dont know if they still make them.

But my fav are an old pair of vans that barely have any tread remaining, and are more flexable than Chuck Ts. I thought about getting a new pair of vans and trying to sand the soles down; my old pair is the best.

What car are you gonna use them for?

I have the Piloti G16's, and I got them because they're low-cut. When driving a Miata, the footwell is so small that regular heel-toeing (toe on break, heel on gas) is impossible. I use the side rolling of the ankle instead in that car, and I'm not sure how much movement the high-tops would allow. The G16's are narrow enough, but if these are for driving only, get as thin a sole as possible. You won't need to support all your weight, so all that matters is that your shoe breathes and can let you manuver the pedals. Back when I was really cheap, I used to use wrestling shoes with the top of the shoe tied loosely. A wider shoe might not clear the clutch if you intend on using the dead pedal, so go narrow as comfortably possible.

These shoes will also be fine in an automatic transmission. Unless you plan on doing some actual racing, you don't really need Nomex or the certified shoes. I wear a size 10 1/2, by the way, and have wide feet, which is why I go for narrower shoes.

I perfer size 12.5 which no one makes outside of the UK. Size 12 there.

I end up wearing size 13 here.

Easy slip on and off, easily washable. You can use em for walking, but this is the closest to feeling relaxed that I could see while driving. They even sipe the soles!
