View Full Version : I hit the Dyno last night.....

Last night I went to my local SCT Dyno Tuner here in Columbus. I wanted to make sure the Long Tubes did not change anything in the Tune and to make sure all things were good.
Before hand I replaced the Focus Pump I had previously installed with a GT Pump, and did the Poor Mans Boost A Pump (larger wire and relay). The A/F did NOT change a bit with the L/T. However, at 6200, the Fuel Pump was at 100%! So.... a real BAP is now needed, and should be installed in the next couple of weeks. Timing was not changed, nor any Timing Adjustments. The Tune was left EXACTLY the same.
I also had a set of Cut-Outs installed when the Exhaust was finished up. I don't have the E-Cutouts yet, but they can be uncapped with Wing Nuts. With this done, the car picked up 21 RWHP and 18 RWTQ.
Here is the Open Header Actual (uncorrected) Dyno Pull:

Nice run, Steve. These things gain power an loose torque when you 'uncork' 'em!!
Sweet numbers.
Too bad that badass motor is not propelling a BLUE Marauder

Nice numbers Steve:up:. I think you will find as I did that with the headers opened up that overall in the 1320 that you will lose power. You gain it down low, but once moving past the 1/8th the power drops off. I got the most power overall running through the entire exhaust system. Note that I do not have cats though.

You have that backwards Tom, the power picks up as soon as the motor is in the higher RPM range and that's where it is at past the 1/8th.. You would lose a little on the 60' and then start picking it back up on the back end. At least that was my experience when I ran cutouts.

On the track John that was my experience. On the dyno I also loss power. Maybe because I am running 9.3-1 pistons was the reason:dunno:.

I did back-to-back dyno runs with my ProCharger motor at Sutton HP. With the cutouts closed, it made 472RWHP and with the cutouts open it made 476RWHP but the TQ was down by 4-5 below 5500. Opening them up "pre-cat" made just a little more top end power.
Not enough to sneeze at but it could have been those high flowing cats and modified exhaust that caused it to be so close. Zack was there when it was tuned...

GReat numbers.
IMHO over 450RWHP on a stock block can shorten it's life.
If he vents his block I am sure his buddy Plunger Man will save the day. Nice going Steve. Now put it to the pavement.

Steve already called me and begged me not to sell the forged shortblock I have.

You know it is just a matter of time:rolleyes:. We all know he wants forged anyway. Better save it for him. He'll be good until all the snow goes away:burnout:.

Took the words right out of my mouth Billy, I told Steve if this was my car, I would pull three degrees timing, and put it back at the track, with race gas only. Great numbers Steve.

Not yet..... I didn't want the car to blow up BEFORE the KY Meet :D
Not sure when I will be hitting the Track. Before I go, I need to get a Helmet and a Jacket. Also a set of Wheels and Tires, otherwise I think it would be a waste...
