It's like a 4WD corvette.

How does it compare to the Lightning?

AWD, 4.3L intercooled turbo same as the Typhoon. Lot of potential with those trucks.

A Syclone would toast an L stock to stock. I've seen them run into the 11's with about $600 in mods.

They have had some problems with the turbos going bad. During their time they were pretty quick. I would prefer a Lightning.

The Syclone was like the Typhoon; after GM found out that we liked them, they killed them. Kinda like the Fiero GT V6, the Beretta GTU and the Camaro.

Same here Tom, I was just stating that they're quick little bugger's though.

The all wheel drive made them brutual out of the hole. A buddy of mine had one. Didn't last long though. He had a lot of problems with it, sold it and bought a SS 454 P/U.

I hate to disagree Tom, but, AT THE TIME, the AWD, and Power made........ = Street KING!

At THIS point in time..... so few even know what they are / were... they are TOPS on the Sleeper list!!!!

Your right Steve, "at the time" they were the balls. I just prefer a Lightning even the old 351 version over the Typhoon or Cyclone....... I have seen a couple here in Florida over the years still cruising around.

they are very fast with just a turbo swap, but its getting harder and harder to find them, and aftermarket parts for them, like the grand prix gpt (grand prix turbo) you have to get a little creative

You mean GTP. Tom, he sold it for a 454 SS P/U? Even slower! Don't believe me? Go onto Powerblock and watch the episode where the guys put up a '90 SS 454 against an '94 Lightning, both were basically stock, except for ignition and muffler's. The Lightning with its small block not only made more power in HP and TQ than the 454, but outran it to 60mph, and turned a faster time in the 1/4.

Not this SS 454:shake:. The motor was bore & stroked, radical cam, tubbed wheels with a 671 Blower on top with dual huge Holley's. Truck ran high 10's with 1.4 sixty foots. Plus he was a big guy and didn't care for the size of the little Chevy.

I was at the car show a couple weeks ago and found the Chevy Canyon to be the only GM/Chevy pickup I really fit into. The Collorado wasn't bad, but not as good as the Canyon. The big trucks, are tiny small on the inside.

Now I've been looking at the Lightnings for awhile, but I really would like to have 4wd or Awd. A Syclone has this and is still fast. Now it is small but how small is it? Anyone know what it's tow rating was, if any?

Go sit in an '89 S10 or an S15.

Not to mention people still want about $13k+ for them, I've seen a lot selling for about $18k, which is a lot for a '91, just go get a Lightning for that price.

They seem to hold their money pretty well, from a used car standpoint. If you have the $$$, you may want to look at a AWD SS Trailblazer.

My friend and his brother work at the GM dealer where I got my MM, they had a TBSS, I took it out for a quick drive, it was the AWD one. Impressive, but I still like the SRT-8 Cherokee better.
