oops. I've never done that before, but I have left my car in gear as I was trying to get out and had the car take off rolling forward. Never hit anything just yet.

I left my Mustang in Drive once and when I got back it it wouldn't start. Radio worked but it wouldn't start. Took me about 30 seconds to realize it wasn't in N or P and thus wouldn't start.
