Supreme Economical Overlord Ben Bernanke will be distributing checks to U.S. taxpayers in a gamble to pop the clutch on the economy. Some of us will get $300, some of us will get $600, some of us will get $1200. Some of us will not get a dime due to our income. Some of us will not get a check, eh? Regardless, how would you spend $600.00 USD / $603.72 CAD when it arrives?

The poll suggests that when and if the monies arrive, what will it be spent on. In my case it's already spent via Credit card. I have to pay back the money I spent for my Votech T Trim blower. No more toys for me for a couple of years.

The last I heard, it is an ADVANCE on your NEXT YEAR's taxes. If you pay less than your refund, you do not owe.....

At this point, it could go either way, but it's looking like it will simply be an advancement.

Q. Will the payment I receive in 2008 reduce my 2008 refund or increase the amount I owe for 2008?
A. No, the Stimulus Payment will not reduce your refund or increase the amount you owe when you file your 2008 return.

I will be making sure to spend it on "Made in USA" products. Sending the money elsewhere doesn't make any sense.
Which of these power adders are made in US?

I will be making sure to spend it on "Made in USA" products.Very good point, but good luck with that. Unfortunately, our dollar is not worth much in most major countries, and it's getting extremely hard to find products with a label that states "Made in USA", including our Marauders.
Several countries are now looking at the U.S. as a good place to outsource, simply because of the declining value of our dollar. We are slowly becoming much like a third world country, and it's very disturbing. :mad2:

Marauderville 6 (http://www.mercurymarauder.net/forums/showpost.php?p=603321&postcount=33) in St. Louis, MO would be a good way to "spend in USA", supporting local economy there.

Here is another way to look at it...two spending scenarios
1. Spend money for TV at Best Buy. Item made overseas, portion of the money to overseas mfg. company & shipping co. Most of the profit going to a company that buys even more stuff from overseas, remainder might go to US employee. Very short term effect on economy.
2. Make the effort to spend the money on US made goods & services. That US company will be have the profit, maybe investing in capital goods, or just to stay in business, and the US employees will also directly benefit of a workplace and some of the money going to them for their labor. Even if the employees spend overseas, at least it had a "two time" effect, hopefully more. A longer term effect of the money will be noticed.
Savings or paying off some debt would benefit your personal economy, this too has a very long term effect.

How is that? Not to sound pompous, but I am in the top 3% of money earners in the USA and I am getting a check for $1600. If you file, you will get something.
I made too much money last year so no check for me.

Most of the debt people have funnel to oversea investors and debt buyers.
I believe 40% of American homes are owned by the Chinese and or Asian markets - the rest are owned by Sudi. Might be extreme but most of the mortgages are bundled and sold to Asian or European investors...until recently when the market imploded and is now free fallings.
This stimulus package is nothing more then the Fed trying to use its limited tools to fix a broke economy - its a cycle ups and downs. We are in a down turn it is as constant as a swiss watch...I need buy one of those!
Spend the money at your local business - a local tune shop, a local store, a contractor, etc, etc. If your serious about helping the American economy from the bottom up.
My money is going to pay for the Marauder or to get the Ol'Bird up and getting pavement again.

There's a cut-off point in income... Once you reach $75K there's a decrease in the rebate, a certain percentage is removed per $1000. It gets totally phased out by $84K. I forgot to review the details before this little post, so I might be off by a little. But that is the gist of the whole thing.

 A 25lb bag of magnum shot is ~$35 these days, and an 8lb jug of Hodgen Clays runs ~$100. Add in the primers and wads and I expect to easily shoot up the whole works, this season alone.
And speaking of taxes; no PA resident should be surprised when Fast Eddy Rendell takes his tax cut.
The only hope we here in PA have, is if Mrs. Clinton names him her VP running mate.

That's interesting, Steve. Clays is reported to be the cleanest burning 12ga competition powder you can get. Wonder why it doesn't like handguns?
I use a Dillon 650 to load the .357 & 40S&W and burn Unique in them.:gangster:

Money will be spent on the 1995 F-150 10.5 MPG is way off for this truck. Last one got 18.5 however running a 120 miles a day O/W 5 days a week the engine failed after 3 months (had 135K miles when I started) replacement pick up is a short bed (hate it!) with only 54,000 miles (garage keep before I got it :) ) now my daily driver going all of 7.5 miles a day O/W
Both were/are 302 C.I.D. (5.0L)
Marauder needs only a trip to the body shop (little *****) and detailers!

Mileage can drop substantially with a short commute, engine doesn't warm up and not as much cruising time means less MPG's. :(
As for my stimulus package well I just blew part of it today getting the pup up to date on all his vaccinations, vet raised their prices on me too :(
