View Full Version : Will 180 stat cause roughness?
Howdy,
Anyone have any experience with a 180 degree stat causing roughness and stumbling?
In the past, I've experienced problems with cold stats.
Any ideas?

No. No issues with the 180 stat whatsoever... It's only 8 degrees colder than stock anyway...

I've had the 180° 'stat in since March, and no problems at all...

This was a problem with some of the PCm s/w. You may ned to get it reflashed to an updated version, assuming you can. If not, I suggest the DR chip........since we don't know what you have/have not done to your MM.

Kevin:
Just to amplify on what Murader03 said above, it is generally NOT recommended to use a 180° 'stat without either a chip, or a re-flashed ECM...use of the cooler thermostat alone could very well cause just the issues you raised. The cooler 'stat is not specified for the purpose of adding more power, rather it's to help prevent pre-ignition and detonation with the more aggressive programming...
