I got bored of my website last night and and started from scratch. Stayed up until 2:30am. What do you think?

You need to use a real photo editor that does smooth downsizing (or "smart sizing"), and doesn't crunch the pixels together (giving sharp edges jiggy jaggies). That will make a big difference in presentation quality. If you don't have or want to spring for Adobe Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro (formerly made by JASC but I think it is sold as Corel Paint Shop Pro now) is under $100 and is a quality program.

Very well done. No extraneous bells and whistles. After viewing the site, I know exactly what your business does, and what to expect from your services. I think the colors and grapics are very well chosen. If I lived in your part of the world, I would frequent your shop. Keep up the good work!

Damn, Mike...your waiting room is nicer than my HOME... :D
I did think of one possible wording change that would tighten up the home page...where you say:
"The computer then tells us the correct oil filter part number as well as what weight of oil and quantity of oil."
...you might want to consider changing that to:
"The computer then tells us the correct oil filter as well as the correct viscosity and quantity of oil."
Sorry if I sound overly nit-picky...my Dad (God rest his soul) was an English teacher... ;)

Yes - GIMP should be fine to use, though the interface is a little bit difficult to understand (might be becuase I'm a long-time Photoshop user, myself)...

Looks good Mike. Let me know if you would like some photo support, I dabble in photography as a hobby and would love to help you get some custom shots for your site. Maybe a few MM's on the lifts.

your website functions very well and reads well. over all it is very good. I assume you are looking for tips since you posted about it, here are mine:
1. Put your photos through an editor, make sure each one matches up with the others on the page in terms of colors, image size/scale and look.
2. Your header is a little large up top, maybe make it a little smaller.
3. I noticed you used some stock photo's as well as some of your own, try to use as many as your own as it will make your site more personal.
I do website design for a living, this website passes as a decent small business website, most of mine are at this level. I know it takes a lot of effort to get it done right, so just work on it and over time it will just keep looking better and better. to check out some of the sites I host, go to:

Pretty nice! Looks like a family business, which I like. I'd go there.
