Looks like the Nissan GTR is probably the best thing to come out in quite a while. If you guys do not know what this is let me inform you. It was a little ugly to me at first, but it grew on me and boy it really has me now. This thing can go 0-60 in 3.7 seconds I think and run the 1320 in 11.6@120MPH STOCK! Goes for 70 grand and seems like the best value you can get when it comes to performance.

I can't wait to get one. Probably not today, maybe ten years down the road I'll have one, but I will. This thing has me drooling. Do you guys know of this car, have you read about it?

If you disagree with me, what do you think is the best bang for the buck these days as far as a performance car goes?

I saw the car at an auto show and it looked awesome. But for 70K+ I think the Corvette for 15K less is the better bang for the buck JMO.

You'll never get one for $70K.....:shake:

Dealership in Bluffton, SC has 3 coming and all sold sight unseen without a color choice for $125K???

I don't think a Vette can run 11.6 stock or handle as well, but I maybe wrong. Now if you are talking about a ZO6, that is a little more than a "Vette" can we agree to that?

My R32 Skyline rubbed me the wrong way... No matter how quick or the price...I would never own another one.

True, but don't forget this is a TT V6, making it go much faster will require a lot less time and money than it would on the C6.

Nissan has come a long way since the R32. The R34's are fantastic, and I'm sure the R35 will be even better.

I also has a Nissan Sylvia that was a turd also...I have been in a 34 and it is a different car all together but still nothing that I would want to deal with again. Just too many issues with them.

Let's remember that the R35 also set the fastest record for Nurburgring at 7:38, and then it beat itself with a 7:28 or 7:29!

Best bang for buck is still a Mustang GT. With the money you save and the huge aftermarket community, you can buy a stock GT, mod it to outperform the others and then use the rest of your saved money for gas and maintenance for many happy years. The V8 Mustang has been the hands down best bang for buck since 1985.

True!
You can't beat the Mustang GT for $$$ vs. Go factor.
I was thinking in terms of stock factory cars with Supercar performance.

(That's why I still have my 1985 Mustang GT 5.0!)

the GTR is a really cool car and all but why spend 70k on a nissan?

Honda tried the same crap with the NSX and that didnt work out for them.

Yep!

"We'll give you a weak N/A V6 "supercar" that eats rear tires in 12,000 miles due to a suspension issue and charge you MORE than a Dodge Viper with a V10."

:hmmm:.....Thanks, But I'll take the Viper!

Remember the 'Special Edition' Zandov(?) NSX that went for only $83,000!

If you want the MOST bang-4-the-buck, wouldn't that be a Neon SRT-4?

230 HP
280 TQ

$21,000

0 - 60 in 5.3 Sec
1/4 Mile in 13.9 at 103 mph

It might be wrong-wheel drive.... but what else is CLOSE to the performance per dollar (bang-4-the-buck ;) )

:dunno:

I was just looking at it in a car magazine this morning.

The weight, the size, the power, the engine size... It pales to the Marauder, with a SC. For the cost, the additions that can be done, by a tune shop, say Dennis or Lidio or the like, all the add-ons, the Marauder woops it's ass. Add a six speed automatic transmission to a SC limitless marauder and it will run circles around the GTR.

I worked it out the Marauder is for the dimensions, 16.57% lighter. Has a 28% larger engine. Makes with full power adders, 45.83% more Horse Power, and similar torque and gets the same gas mileage. Seats 5 not 2 small adults+2 midgets. Has a trunk, is a nicer colour, much much more comfortable, and way cheaper insurance.

Marauder done up properly is a much better car.

It would, but they don't make them anymore! There's an '05 in my town with 10k on it that's only $15k, that's a smokin' deal. Best bang for the buck though would STILL be a 03/04 Cobra, and a C5 Z06.

From '93 - '02 was this the case? The 3rd gen F-Bodies espeically the LS1 powered ones from 98 up put up quite a fight. You could buy a base Z28 with 305hp stock and much more hidden in the motor and a 6spd trans for well under $20k through 2002. You needed a Cobra to get 305hp in a Mustang, and that competed with the 320hp SS...stock for stock atleast

03/04 Cobra>GT500. Breadfan is right, the GT's are piss weak bone stock. Like he stated, you needed the Cobra bone stock to compete with a bone stock SS that was rated less than the Cobra was.
