Has any NOVI or VORTECH S/C owners changed their serpentine belt?

I'm in the process and interested in finding out if I'm doing this correctly.

I've already put the new belt over all the pulleys except for the A/C which is on the bottom passenger side.

I have bolted up the S/C and all associated brackets and idler pulley. I left the belt off the A/C so that there is enough slack to thread the belt over all the other nine pulleys.

If my thinking is correct, I will have to move the tensioner over to the max disengaged position with a special spanner wrench (which I have) then with my second pair of hands put the belt over the A/C pulley and release the tensioner. This has to be done from underneath the car. Am I correct?

Thanks,

Pat

I don't have either of the two blowers...But can't you route it over the PS pump last??? That way you don't have to be under the car...

Some of us... plastic tie the wrench holding the tensioner down...to free up another hand...

Hope this helps...

Good luck....

I usually have my wife just slip the belt over the last pulley when I'm ready, it only takes a second, and she doesn't mind, lets her get involved. You have a wife, significant other, right, if not a mother will do in a pinch, but they usually ask to many questions. And yes I saw your age, but you can't always believe that.

DR sent me a PDF file for the supercharger installation. Looks like the alternator is the last pully to be slipped on. Thanks Dennis.

I'll give it a whirl in the morning.

And yes in another 45 days the clock will tick off another year and it's 69 for me.

Humm, wonder who will go first me or the Marauder. 69 @ 60K,
73 @ 120K, 77 @ 180K 81 @ 240K, 85 @ 300K, we'll probably go together at that rate.

Not a bad thought. Knock, knock! Who's there, bellows Saint Peter at the pearly gates? Pat and Silverback, say's I, where is MV-22? Oh, and is there a 1320 here?

I always found it easier to put the belt over the water pump pulley last.

Yer right FordNut. The water pump pulley did the trick. One guy under the car to decompress the tensioner and one guy with a thin flat tool to slip the belt over the water pump pulley.

It does take a strong arm however. The old belt was so weak that the tensioner was at it's stops. With the the new
belt there is at least an inch and a half of space between the stops.

Thanks guys for your input.
