Mine was a 1974 Chevelle Laguna 2 door. I paid $250.00 for it and drove it home on back roads with my parents following me. It needed 4 tires, a full exhaust and the paint was - well, lets be honest, even in the rain it didn't shine. The rubber around the windows was gone so I got wet in the rain, the only option was a steering wheel. It had a straight six in it so I had to neutral-slam it to burn out. I put house carpet in it and a radio that smelled like fire and sounded like crap. You know what? I loved that car like mad!!!!!

1970 Special Edition Plymouth cuda. It needed everything, so I rebuilt the whole car. Engine, tranny, rear end, vinyl top, paint, tires, all interior. I got a paper wrought and started delivering newspapers to finance the rebuild.;) As usual I wish I had that car now Oh Well.........

Hi all,

My first car was given to me by my grandmother. It was a '70 Maverick with a 200 6cyl and C4 AT. I soon traded it to my dad for a '69 Mustang Sportsroof.

Picture of my Torino added today from my gallery. Photo taken in 1978 at Charleston Naval Base when I was going to York 110 ton centrifugal air conditioning school. I was the only non-nuke, non-sub sailor in the class and I think I finished second grade-wise, a small triumph of my Navy career! My Dad bought the car new in early 73 and I got to drive it my last year of high school. I thought Id get it as a graduation present but wrong, hah! Joined the Navy, did one tour overseas and when I came back my Dad sold it to me for what, $500 UNDER BLUE BOOK! Had the car til 1979, sold it to a Navy buddy when I bought my pickup. About six months later I asked if he would sell it back and he agreed, that same day his wife tore the whole side of it off at the mall. Car was actually a pain in the ass with vacume leaks and vacume advance problems, lifters going bad, ect but it was damn sure the prettiest car I ever owned and I sure wish I had it back.

A 1964 Dodge Dart GT 4DR sedan with 273 V8 and auto trans. I got it on 12/19/1970 when I was 16. It was a tan color which I had painted metallic red and then metallic green. I converted to dual exhaust for about $30 from JC Whitney and put on glass paks. It was loud and drony. I drove it from LA to Las Vegas once with that drone and had a headache for days afterward. The 273 with dual exhaust was fairly responsive though. I liked the car.

This, coincidentally. 25k mile 1997 LeSabre. At the point you see it in this pic it had KYB GR-2 struts, upgraded front and rear sway bars, 2.5" mandrel bent exhaust, custom PCM flash tune by Intense-Racing, and my custom made police-style steel wheels/caps/trim rings.

1975 4-door Torino (Not Gran Torino) 351 Windsor c4 that could not always make the 2-3 shift. Purchased when I was 16 for 250.00 Me and a Buddy replaced the timing chain when we where 16. I still have that first torque wrench in my tool box. Got caught driving it when still 16 no lincnse, insurance, fake tags the whole deal. It was actually one of Hwy 73s' co-workers who caught me. I lead them on a chase which only lasted about 2-3 miles. I guess I watched too much Dukes of Hazzard! Never drove the car again (parents made it go away).

My first car was a 1987 Cadillac Sedan Deville. I bought it in 1994 for less than $5K (so you can imagine what I was getting)...

The engine had been rebuilt just before I bought it, but it was the infamous HT4100 (4.1L 249 cid V8 that was known to have numerous issues). I blew the tranny after a couple of months (apparently going uphill with 10 people in the car was a bad thing)... After a rebuilt transmission, the engine gave way, forcing me to sell it.

I owned the Caddie for a total of 19 months, and to an extent still miss it... The MM does everything it did, only better, but it still has that "my first car" appeal.

1980 Jaguar XJ6, converted to a Chevy small block and th350 trans. Bought it when I was 16 but didn't get to drive it until I was 17. Brakes went out 3rd day I drove it!

Rebuilt master cylinder and front calipers by hand, $30 in rebuild kits saved so much money, calipers were 195 each master cylinder 100...

I put about 100k on it, had over 220k on the body when I got rid of it for a newer car. Wish I had kept it but it had issues, and some rust problems.

My first car was a 1986 Ford Thunderbird Turbo Coupe 5sp. I bought it around 1990 I think. I still wish I had it. It was so comfortable, quick and very roomy.............for my girlfriend and I. I still compare every car I have had to that as far as comfort goes. And none have come close untill 3/14/09 when I bought my 2004 Marauder. Which by the way far surpasses it in every way. I just have to try out the roomy thing with my wife now!!!

In 1960, I bought a 1953 Ford 4 dr sedan, three speed, flathead for $250. With the motor off and the trans in first, it would slowly roll downhill unless I used the parking brake. The car also had an add-on heater.

Added porta-walls (remember them, you other oldtimers?), and sold the car for $275 after 5 months.

Only car I ever made a profit on.

1969 VW Karmann Ghia Convertible, bought in my senior year of college in 1973 for $1250. Quite an efficient and fun vehicle. I transported furniture and a Harley Davidson in that car. Rust in the front fenders was the only problem. Sold it 5 years later for the price I paid for it. Still miss it.

:)FULL RACE WITH THREE ON THE FLOOR, 3 DUECES, 390 REAR,Hurst shifter, and chrome wheels-$3,345 of sex on wheels! Got it new @ almost 18 years of age and made the full payment in Cash-my salesman grabed the sack of money I was counting out on his desk and ran my butt upstairs away from the plate glass window of the Brooklyn dealership! Asked why I bought the car this way-I wanted to impress my best girl at the time-my Mom who signed for me since N.Y. law would not let a car be sold to a minor(under 21) even if he had the cash! Those were the days-men were men, women were women, and kids were strange!:o

My first car that I owned was a l950 Olds two door coupe, Rocket 88.

Didn't look like much (think Transformers 1, Sam's yellow Camero) but it was mine and I loved it.

Raked out, dual exhaust, no hubcaps, wheels painted red.

I felt really cool. Bought it summer of 1959 for $100.00, TTL.

My brother let me (believe it or not) drive his 69 road runner, 383 4 speed for the first few months I had my license. Then I bought a used 76 Dodge Charger 360 2 brl. Within a week the Charger had dual exhaust and a four barrell was added by the end of the first month. Ran that car to 176,000 miles (hard ones too). Rust got the better of it.

I now own the road runner though and have for the last 25 years.
