Just want to give Big KUDOS to Rich, (magindat) for doing such a fantastic job on the install of my stereo system in the Marauder.:bows:
Also for his time, effort and expertly knowledge on the system.
I had purchased the FH-P800T Double DIN CD Receiver, the MTX 300 Amp/MTX 5500 10"Sub, the CDX-P686, 6 disc changer and the steering wheel interface from our vendor here, John Kuhn.
I know that Rich had installed a similar system before now so I gave him a call, we talked and decided to do the install at his house.
After a 4-1/2 hr. drive down there to Vero Beach, FL. from Georgia, I arrived at his house about 7:40 am on 17 May 08', we greeted, talk some and then discussed the install procedures as to what to expect.
First thing was the sound deadening material, (cascade), so everything in the trunk came out, that was the easy part.
Used two cans of cascade for the trunk which works out great.
Let that sit to dry while we dismantle the rear seats, the door sills, the front dash and anything Rich ask me to do.
I was really getting to know my Marauder at this point, if you know what I mean.....insideout.:bigcry:
You should see this wiring harness Rich put together, ran it thru the duct and it was side by side with the OEM wiring, you couldn't even tell the two apart, thats how good it was. :2thumbs:Talk about stealth mode.
The best part yet was when Rich actually used the original brackets off the OEM CD changer and fitted it to the Premier one, can you say perfect, fit like a glove.:coolman:
By this time we were getting kind of hungry, thats when I met Rich's lovely lady Leslie and she treated us both to the biggest subs around, thanks Leslie, I appreciate it very much, the hospitality and all.
A few bottles of gatorade water later, and we're just about finished with the hard parts.
After all is button down, it's time for the test and tune before the headunit gets put in place permanently. Everything is in working order, to include the steering wheel buttons, mode button is now mute button.
The dome lamp in the trunk had to be moved, so Rich suggested I go with the streetglow 9" L.E.D. strips, we were looking for white light, no luck so I went with the red light, looks good shinning off of the Sub.
All is done so it's not all work and no play, Rich says to me, "you're going to drive my procharged Marauder or I'll call you a wussie", so who's to argue with that.
I have to tell you that those 20"-295's were no match for that procharger, barked the tires on the one-two shift every time, even with out trying to.:burnout:
Rich has his own little test track near by. Awesome ride.
Still learning the system, haven't used the bluetooth feature yet, all else is good to go.
If you're looking for a competent and very knowledgeable person for any stereo needs what so ever, and you're in the Vero Beach, FL. area, I highly recommend you give Rich, (magindat) a call first, he's second to none.
Hope to see you again Rich, "Thanks".
Oh, by the way, Leslie is the final approving authority for all installs, she gave it two thumbs up, passed with flying colors.
Sorry, no pics,:( it was all work and alittle play".
