ran the car for the first time on fri at lebanon valley in N.Y. they had a rental day, so i ran it alot, it was 64 degrees first run it pulled 14.73 at 95mph , all stack except for an xcal from DR. i got 24 runs in best seemed to be with the OD shut off and letting the trans shift on its own, it ran very consistant at 14.82 at 94.6 mph with a 2.23 60ft time at 4400lbs. with me in it.

I'll put this out "just in case"...Only because I got the impression that you manually shifted on a few runs...

You should not be manual shifting the car...If you have...You may want to consider not doing it again...You WILL fry the OD band...

O/D off, traction off (if you have it), preload the torque converter to 1800-2000rpms and mash the gas when you see that last yellow light lite up.

Also avoid the water box if you can, just give your tires a quick spin pass the water box to clean them off, don't need anymore than that.

If you have an Xcal 2 you might want to bump up the shift pressure some if you haven't already. 24 runs is a lot lol, don't forget to give your car time to cool down between runs. Keep working on it and you'll get better times.

i didn't go through the water and if i did spin the tires first it would just light them up when i launched, and right around 2000 rpms seemed to work the great. but now i'm gonna put in the 4.11's that have been sitting on my tool box fox 6 months and we are suposed to go back in two weeks, so hopefully that will make differance, the was a guy there with an 03 mach 1 and he said that the 4.11 swap slowed his time by 3/10, doesn't make sence .

4:10s will not slow a car down, but they will make the launch more difficult due to easier tire spinning. The question to ask the Mach 1 driver is what was his 60' foot time.

24 runs, holy crap. I'm happy if I get 4 runs in per track visit. 14.7 is damn good with just a tune. Do you have an 03 or 04?

mines an 03, 300a, yeh 24 is alot, but one of the local venders here does a track rental like once a month and there was only about 80 cars, and half way thruogh the day alot either broke or ran out of nitrous so you could just keep going around as much as you wanted. I never ran this car before so i just kept trying different things and making notes on the slipps to figure what worked best.

So what did you find works best?

it seamed that if i didnt go through the water or do a burn out , just pulled up to the line, OD shut off, powerbrake up to just around 2000rpm, and let the trans shift on its own, i pulled very consistant, 14.82 - 14.85 at 94- 95 mph, and that was with 1/2 tank off gas, and nothing taken out, i still had the spare and trunk organiser in the trunk.

Why is manually shifting not good?

Hard on the internals; forward clutches and overdrive band.
If you consistantly drop the go pedal from overdrive to 2nd, (without locking OD off) that's probably eventually gonna cost ya too.
Great runs! Now you are hooked

But in theory, wouldnt manual shifting yield the best 1320 time if done properly?
