View Full Version : High Idle???

This has happened a couple of times in the past year and I don't know why......

I started the car cold (95* ambient....cold??) yesterday and as always it "Flared" to 1800 RPM's and settled down to 1200 RPM's. I put it in gear and drove off but the shifting felt funny and the TC didn't unlock while coasting (I have my tune set up the release the TC when I get off the gas)......it remained locked during down shifts while rounding corners??

When I got to the Post Office I put it in Park as always but the idle hung at 1500 RPM's and surged to 1800 RPM's as the A/C clutch engaged!!:argue: Tapping the throttle had no effect!!:shake:

I shut it off and re-started and all was fine.....750 RPM's in Park with only about 50 RPM surge when A/C compressor engages!!

I guess my TC only disengages when the RPM's fall past 1500 or the TPS is at idle setting.....thus the TC remained locked even down to the 2-1 down shift......really felt weird!!

Maybe the IAC hung up or PCM went dumb for awhile.....any ideas??

Jack, the tc schedule is based on tp vs mph, so maybe your throttle linkage is sticking sending a higher than normal tps off-pedal. Would also explain the high idle. The IAC doesn't effect the tps so it wouldn't effect the tc unlocking.

Thanks for the reply JD.....How ya been??

Like I said it has happened a few times but not as much as the damn stalling when putting it into Park!!:argue:

I sent my tune to Scott Beer to massage and VOILA.....no more stalling!!:bows:

I'm not going to worry about it but will check the throttle cable today!!:D

Whatcha driving now??
