Fun Ford Weekend at Atlanta Dragway was quite an event with a great deal of activity - car show, True Street, drag races, Outlaw racers, etc. It was really hot and humid which affected everyone's times. I entered True Street which had about 80 entries. We did the required 30 mile street drive and several cars had to drop out. We then had an hour cool down time and ran the required 3 runs back to back. My first run was a 12.1 against a very unusal car - a 1980 (?) Mercury Monterey which was a real sleeper. A HUGE car (see the video), but it was several hundred pounds lighter then the MM. It had a cammed 428 Police interceptor engine, headers and full exhaust with 3:55 gears. It ran a surprising 12.58 at 112 mph. I also had several nice runs against a '03 Worked Cobra SC and a full boat Mustang racer (1995?) with roll cage, etc.
By the time we got to the bracket races on Sunday only 35 cars were left. I won the first round and then went up against a full race big block 1985 Fairmount with nitrous. He ran mid-tens.

It was a fun time for myself and my son Chris.
