With a person in the back of a truck in front of a moving car and a hose with a big deployment nozzle, or standing in front of the idling car they hit the air intake with CO2 from a fire extinguisher and stalled the engine.

Would this hurt the engine?

the CO2 ( carbon dioxide) is just displacing the air going into the intake, so there's no combustion..hence engine stalls...( I imagine the MAF also can't calculate the A/F mixture, so it may stall the engine via the computer too...)

A banana in the tail pipe works just as well.

I suggested to use a banana, because I didn't want to offend any Mr. & Mrs. Potatoe Head lovers out there.

I saw the show a while back. I think they used a older volvo as the test car?

I guess banana(s) would be more lo-tech. it would build up some back pressure all the way to the combustion chambers. would it work at WOT?:mad2:

It wouldn't get that far. If the vehicle was running it would shut down, and if it wasn't running, it would never start.

Smash Lab is nothing more than a few idiots doing competely stupid and impratical hbusters solutions or expierements with absolutely no scientific knowledge.

Mythbusters FTW!

Which is why I like it. Blow stuff up, burn stuff down, smash things with trains. . . . I rather liked the episode where they made a building more bomb resistant using roll on truck bed liner.

Mythbusters is good too, but Smash Lab is for the whole show what Mythbusters is at the end. Going for the big *boom*. :)

SmashLab only impressed me with their first show...then they appeared to me to only be a bunch of folks who know just enough to be dangerous...with alot of hair gel and fashions statements...

MythBusters stimulates my brain...SmashLab insults it...

Oh look ... more bright shiny objects for me to play with !
