While it is Panther related, it is not Marauder specific. I was wondering if anyone knows what, if any difference there is between the Marauder brake setup and the brake setup on a 2003 Crown Vic PI?

I have done some back to back driving recently between the Marauder and the Crown Vic and noticed the Marauder has MUCH better brakes than the CVPI. Now, the Marauder has 47,000 miles on it and the CVPI has 120,000+ miles on it and I would guess the fluid has never been changed.

So, I am looking at OEM type replacement/upgrades for the CVPI. I am looking at the following:

- Power Slot rotors front and rear
- Hawk HPS pads
- ATE Super Blue brake fluid

I would love to do braided stainless steel lines, but can not find anyone making them. I have sent an email to Todd at TCE to see if he has any of the Marauder ones and if so will they work on a CVPI. Waiting for a response on that.

I was wondering what you guys think of that setup. I am hoping that I don't have any issues with the bleeders on the calipers as I have no idea if they have ever been cracked open before or not. I really don't want to do new calipers, too.

Also, what are your thoughts on the PS standard vs. Cryo treated rotors and any recommendations on the best place to pick them up?

All input appreciated.

Thanks.

From what I've been told, they are identical.

I just got an email back from Todd (at TCE) and he does not think the Marauder SS brake lines will fit on a Crown Vic. Now, he says he has not had his hands on them to verify, but has heard that Marauder brakes do not work on a CVPI and thus at least the TCE SS brake lines will not work on a CVPI.

So, looks like my options are just rotors, pads, and brake fluid. I might start with a complete flushing of the fluid and see how that does. If there is still some room to improve, I might see if there is enough material on the rotors and have them turned and install new HPS pads and go from there. Then next time I need rotors look at doing the Power Slot Cryo rotors with HPS pads.

Search for Command Rotors here on mm.net. Heavier duty OEM style replacements. One of our site vendors sells them IIRC.

The brakes are in fact the exact same.
All the parts I use on my '03 MM fit on my Daughter's '04 CV LX Sport.

I agree that they should be the same. I highly recommend a full brake flush with the flush machine bleeding all four at once. The dealer that I was working in a few years back had just received the machine and the machine's rep was doing a demo. I volunteered to be the guinea pig, and the difference was unbelievable. The pedal was higher and much more responsive.

I was very skeptical before the service, but  Holy *****.

A good flush is all you may need.

I cannot personally verify that the hoses will work on the CV. However from previous looks at putting the MM brake kit on the CV others reported the steering knuckles were not the same. If that's correct then I am making a certain assumption that there remain some differences which may prevent the hoses from fitting also.

Any one of these: length, bracket location, hardline thread, caliper thread, banjo inlet location or angle change from one vehicle to the other could cause, at the least, minimal headache to fit these hoses. If anyone has a set of old rubber hoses they'd care to send/share with a CV owner and verify they are a DIRECT fit, including M10 hardline with 3/8-24 caliper thread (??) and everything is golden I'll be happy to try and help out. I don't want the grief of an upset customer claiming I told him they'd fit without far more info than I have now.

FWIW, the last set of these are now sold anyhow so if you guys verify this maybe we can do a run for CV owners.

These SS braided hoses fit my CV Sport just fine.

They are made for the 03/04 Marauder/CV
