I have one of these I bought from a MM.net online vendor in April of '05. It was finally installed by my mechanic in Jan. '07. It has run very quietly. When I turn the key to ON I had to listen for it. It has now been in the car 18 months and has 19,000 miles on it.
I noticed today that with the key on it alternately runs quietly and then gets noisier for a while. Sounds like a bearing to me or loud cavitation and the car isn't running. When it's noisy I can feel slight vibration on the case.
Let me know if it running a bit noisy is OK. Temps are fine. I'm also going to call Meziere on Monday. Could have been making this much noise for some time and I never noticed. I know several guys who have been running these for way longer than me with no problems so I know they are a good product. Could just be the 1% that is the reason for the warranty.
Their website says they are under warranty for 2 years, but I'm sure that's from the time of purchase, not install which would be 1/09, so I'm probably screwed, even though I have the invoice from the mechanic who installed it.
If it fails and they won't replace it then I will consider installing the Stewart pump instead.
Thanks for any info.

NormMeziere will rebuild it for a fee, and then it should be good as new.....Hopefully! I'm not a spokesman for Meziere, I'm just a customer.

Even more reasons why Im happy with my EMP pump.
My Meziere Pump has always been noticeable when on.

Thanks for the info. I don't mind the noise at all, let's me know it's working. I guess what is of concern is that the noise _varies_. Engine off, key on, I would think it would make the same sound all the time, not quiet, then a bit grumbly for a while, then smooth again.
This is my daily driver. I just installed Joey's Scan Gauge II and the WT is always between 182 and 188. I'll keep an eye on it. I check it every minute or so anyway.
I know the EMP is a better mousetrap compared to the OEM pump, but with the Meziere I really like that I can drive the car hard and park it and still be cycling 55 GPM without using any gas at all.

BTW, my post above was incorrect. I have just _9000_ miles on it. As a daily driver that's less than 200 hours of ON time so far...!

I have had my Meziere electric pump for 5 months and it is very quiet. It was a new pump. I also noticed that the engine runs cooler (ie. the oil temp never goes over 170-180 degrees) even when racing it. For some strange reason I believe the Long trans cooler that was installed at the same time has also helped the entire engine as well as the trans to run cooler??? The trans now never goes over 170-180 degrees when before it would easily spike over 210 degrees on WOTs.

I do not trust electric water pumps, I am too paranoid about a short or the motor failing while driving.

Mine was quiet but has gotten louder. You may be right on the trans, but I just have the standard cooler. However I have the deep finned art carr pan and along with the level II think that has helped. I have never gone over 180 on the tranny temp myself. If I ever do I'll consider a supplemental cooler.
What trans cooler did you get? Did you get the braided lines at the same time?

I just got off the phone with Meziere and they said that if it was a bearing the noise would be continuous. He says that it is cavitation noise caused by air in the system, and recommends that I fix it by removing the thermostat and drilling two small holes in it and allowing it to run with the system open, which will bleed out the air. ??
I asked why not just open up the xover tube and burp the system normally? I'm not up for aletering my thermostat.
The system stays very cool and I burped it thoroughly last time but I guess there could be a small pocket of air still there. I'll burp it again just in case. Bottom line is it's working so I won't cry til I'm hurt.

The beauty of this pump is you can run it to burp the sys. with the engine off.
Mine is quiet and I ran it 10+ min. to get air out.
The MM was 20deg. at up angle on driveway.

If the cavitation was so bad that you can feel vibration in the pump housing you must have a lot of air in the system!
On the other hand, bearings that are going bad WILL most certainly vibrate/chatter intermitantly just before they start doing it all of the time!
If the pump was quiet 19 months ago and is making noise now - guess what!
The story from Meziere sounds like :bs:

Yep, that's what I think. I want to be fair about it, but he wants me to believe the bearing would just instantly start making a lot of noise.
We'll see. I'm watching the temps like a hawk now, and every night I listen to it with just the key on. Seems to be quieter, so maybe there's something to what he said. Beats me, but I appreciate the feedback.
