I was talking to Haggis a few weeks ago about his Kenny Brown and he told me 20 were sold to the Government. Does anyone know anything about this? How long will they keep their cars? What will they sell for? Exc.

My buddy has a KB MM and correct me if I'm wrong but I believe he has a plaque on his radiator shroud that says #15 of either 25 or 27

Somewhere around 30 KB Marauders were made for and sold to the general public. Additional units were made for the gummint. I believe the number was 20, but I'm not sure of that.

The FHP cars were tuned by the one and only Dennis Reinhart.
KB did not setup these MM's.

I know that, but I was just saying those were the only "police" used MM's that I've known of. Yea, I've never, ever seen/heard of a KB MM Gov't car. Those things must be beat...

Several years ago I saw a car hauler in Atlanta with two MM cop cars with Vortex labels on their fenders. You never know what speed shops or other companies make for LEO or the government.

I seriously doubt those cars went to any federal agency.

Could be for the FBI I know they had modified grand nationals or t-types that had the 88MPH governor disabled.

Years ago while visiting my brother in Norcross, Ga. he took me by the local police dept., I think it was next door in Duluth, to see their cars.
Instead of ordering the standard Camaro police car, the sheriff would order Z28's and SS's.
A few years later, instead of ordering regular Caprices, the sheriff ordered Impala SS's.
And then a few years later, instead of Crown Vics, the lot was full of Marauders, all done up with light bars, push bars, decals, etc...

I'd think you would be surprised what the Government drives. During the Statue of Liberty celebration in about 1987, A government agency had several 5.0 Mercury Capris and a whole bunch of Buick Grand Nationals. Here in Omaha in about 1990 there was a Buick GNX, serial plate was #237, it was owned by the same agency.
Most vehicles get sold thru GSA but some never get released to the public. I saw a number of them at a location in the South East.
In Florida there was a large number of Exotics, these were used by that agency and on a limited basis loaned to other Federal Agencies.

If you saw exotics or other cool cars owned by the feds, they were likely asset foreiture property from drug dealers and being used as undercover cars. Federal procurement regulations are pretty clear on waste, fraud and abuse. State and local is a different story.

I would love to see pics or some sort of bonified article about this...
I'm kind of a non-believer. Its like the story of the "stock 5.0 mustang highway patrol car with just a special chip that can go 170mph and run 11's"

It was the Doraville PD that had the above mentioned Police cars. They had an unusal Police Chief. I use to drive through Doraville every day to work and was nearly a victim of the Mustang, Magnum and MM police cars which were very difficult to spot. But, my Beltronics saved me many times.

There are many exemptions to procurement regs.

Urgent and compelling are 2.
Let's see....we need to procure a car that is capable of reaching and substaining 170 mph, uses exisiting templates for V-hickle eqmt already procured. Outward appearance not to differ drastically from standard CV with street package.

Like I said, waste, fraud and abuse.

Dude, waste, fraud and abuse are SOP when dealing with government contracts...
Ever heard of Halliburton?

The bottom line is I seriously doubt any federal agency ordered any Marauders. State and local government surely have them. If the local gentry like their tax dollars being spent like that, more power to them.
