Denver area, front range of CO, WY.

I would be interested in a MM meet.

I wish I still lived out there. I was born in Colo Spgs and lived in the South Park/Wilkerson Pass area. Haven't lived there for over 10 yrs now though...:(

If you mean east of the rocky mountains, then I qualify, I'm just north of you, way north.

I'm in Parker, SE of Denver. However, it looks like I am going to be laid off in a few weeks, so I'll have to find another job before I can do any more fun stuff.

Ok. Job problem solved. I'll be busy getting up to speed for a couple weeks, but after that, I would be interested in a g2g.
I'll have to dig out a map to see if there is a good place between us that we can meet at.
Without a map, Rocky Mountain Nat'l Park comes to mind. Might be cool to take a few pictures of the cars up on Trail Ridge Road somewhere.
What do you think?

Depending on where we meet:

Glenwood Sprgs to RMNP = roughly 200 miles/4 hours
Laramie, WY to RMNP = roughly 140 miles/3 hours
Parker, CO to RMNP = roughly 115 miles/2.5 hours
Calgary AB to RMNP = roughly 1100 miles/17.25 hours
Cedar Rapids, IA to RMNP = roughly 840 miles/13 hours

I'm open to other suggestions, too. After looking at the map, it looks like I am the closest to RMNP.

Sounds like an idea. How about a run up either hwy 36 or hwy 34 to RMNP.

Man do I envy you guys. There are definitely times when I wish things would have been different and I would have stayed out there. I lived in Boulder for two years and went to school at the Air Force Academy for my first year of "college" (long story there...).

Anyway, I miss waking up each morning, looking out my bedroom window and seeing the mountains. We used to take a trip up to Estes Park and RMNP at least once a month. That is an awesome drive. Come back on the Peak to Peak. Always switched it up some to check out new scenery. Come back in through Nederland (I think that was the name) and eat at the little pizza/Italian joint there.

I hope to get my daughter out there sometime for some sight seeing.

.

I've made that run several times on my motorcycle (had to sell that though a couple years ago). It is a real nice trip. In the autumn when the trees are turning, it is really beautiful. I never stopped at that place in Nederland, though.

I need a couple weeks to settle into my new job, but if you guys are interested, pm me.

Mid august or later would work for me.

Maybe if it works out fun, we could try to organize a bigger group of Mountain Marauders next Summer and see how many folks we can get to drive in for it...

I'd be up for that. Don't mind driving to Denver for a fun event.

If we try to arrange a g2g its gonna have to be soon before the little white flakes start flying(loveland pass was closed due to snow the other night IIRC). And the MM's should be left at home. How long until RMNP is closed? I personaly have never been there.

No, its an extra 200 miles that way, we're going through NM. I kind wish we would cause I've done that route before and I enjoyed the drive.

Ahhhh, you just had to do this! ;)

I moved here, to Florida, in 2006 from Westminster. I really miss the scenery and dry weather (lack of humidity) -- I'd go back in a heartbeat if I didn't have my job keeping me here in Florida. :bows:
