View Full Version : What could cause this problem (AETC, PWR. Steering, Etc.)?
No HVAC display, no overhead console display, no power steering. A few seconds after startup all work but the displays flicker.
UPDATE: The fuse is fine. I monitored the voltage across it as I drove and it's constant at all times the engine is running. Putting the car in reverse seems to prompt the EATC, compass, and power steering to go dead. Sometimes but not always. Sometimes they flicker or become less bright. Sometimes nothing happens.
I did see that all these things appear to map to one fuse. I checked it and it was fine. Scratched the surface of the contacts just in case it was not making good contact and reinstalled. Have not driven it yet.
Is fuse block corrosion a problem on MM's?
Any other ideas of what this could be?
Thanks!
I have the Ford service manual on disc so I plan to take a look. I'm thinking there is a wiring or reverse lock problem but need to look at the diagram and start testing components I guess.

Dave just took his Marauder in for the same problem....let me call him and get back to you....

Okay....reporting back....he has a 03 300A and it was his fuse box relay switch...to a tune of $325.00 fixed by the dealer. Dont know how much the part is or where it is located but I am sure some one will chime in with that information....
Thank you.
Where is this part located in the vehicle? Since I checked the fuse block (across the fuse) while the car was running and the voltage is constant, unless this fuse box relay switch is 'down stream' from the block on the dash, it might be something else.
I will take a look at the wiring diagram tonight and find the relay you refer to.
Thanks again.

I dont know where it is....any one else with info on the location of the fuse box relay switch?
I looked at the wiring diagram and from the battery, power goes to the Battery Junction Box under the hood. It goes from fuse 114 to the Central Junction Box under the dash. It goes from fuse 16 to the brake shift interlock, transmission range sensor, and the EATC. I don't see any relay's in this path.
I'm going to look at ground locations next...
OK, all the fuses and grounds are fine.
Now I've noticed that the voltage occasionally drops - so much so that the battery light has come on for a split second....
The alternator was replace 3 months ago - shouldn't be that (especially since only one circuit is acting up) but stranger things have happened.
Thanks.
8/28 - Took the car to a dealership to have it looked at. They found that the left fender wire harness was damaged during my accident in January and finally corroded enough to cause me problems. The insurance company (Liberty Mutual) is going to pay for the whole repair.
On a side note, I had a problem with the alignment that the repair shop did after the accident (they forgot to tighten the right side camber adjustment bolt). My tires were shredded prematurely - the OUTSIDE edge was gone. Liberty Mutual paid for the alignment and 30% of the price of the tires & install (which was exactly what I asked them for). So I've got to give my seal of approval to Liberty Mutual for stepping up. :bows:

Well, I still have this problem even after slowly, methodically going through the harness ... No foglights, compass,HVAC and control, etcetera ... and all fuses, relays are good and all wiring and plugs are also good ....
No, MarauderJack, I havent been up to see the contact you passed info to me about...only because I am driving RoadPig 2 or SlowPig ....

Bump bump bumpity bump .... :)

FYI - my repair was 5 hours labor. They quoted me $520 but the insurance adjuster offered them $375 and they took it.
