OH MY, That convertible! Me want.

I'd like to see it in the flesh and some specs, but I call it a home run.

Wasn't it 2002 when they stopped making the camaro and firebird because of no demand for them.

So now people want gas mileage and they are bringing them back. Makes sense to GM i guess.

Has anyone seen any real 1/4 mile times with the Camaro? The Challanger was low 13s with a few simple mods. What is the Camaro's?

... Its body style is reminiscent of the mid to late 60's Camaro/Firebird ... so today in the clubhouse, the magic phrase is ... PSEUDONUEVO... whats new is actually old ... besides, someone has to rule the trailer park ...

I really don't like it. Then again I don't like 1st gen camaros at all so that probably has a lot to do with it. I own 2nd and 3rd gen F bodies. The 4th gen trans am's are okay but the 4th gen camaro looks like a dust buster.

As per previous posts, I really want to put one in my garage... Hopefully, I will be able to make that happen...:o

This is the first time they've published any engine specifications, though there have been rumours for months, and Edmonds has stats published: V6 covers the 1/4 in 14.5 @ 97 and the V8 covers it in 13.3...(link: http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/News/articleId=129496)

My thoughts - I just cannot understand how some people may want to move from a MM to a slower Camaro or Challenger. I paid $27,000 for my MM and including mods have less then the cost of a new Camaro or Challenger. The MM even weighs 400+# more and is faster and even handles better then either of the other cars. But, I guess I am just old school when it comes to cars. No one in my youth would ever consider buying any car if it was slower then the one they currently own.

(If you want to buy a Camaro or Challenger and keep your MM then ignore this post.)

O'well, let the :flamer:begin.

I made that mistake when I bought my Subaru.

It was much slower than my Mustang and Firebird, but it id have back doors and I needed back doors. Worked better in winter too.

But then I upgraded to my Marauder and sanity has returned, yes it has.

Who said anything about making a move... I want to add!!! :D For what it is (a full size, 5-seater, with comfort and gusto), I love the MM.

I know, your instructions said to ignore the post, since I want to keep the MM, but I will bite on the faster/handling comments :o

Guessing you mean a modified MM could be faster, and I would agree. It may even be cheaper (figure for a total of <$25K and you could easily have a 12-second car), but would not be new and with warranty.

I'm not sure how an MM would be quicker, though... The Camaro pulls a reported .90G skidpad. That seems a whole lot better than our cars, at .81G. I haven't made any suspension mods to mine, but I can't see the modest mods available to us making THAT much of a difference. Short of a serious diet and big bucks, I would think the twisties will do us in...

Despite what some people seem to think, that is true. You can't make this car handle like a porsche and still have it weigh 4200 lbs. It would need to lose 1,000 lbs and be like 10 feet shorter. My 2nd gen Camaro, which is a glorified piece of junk w/ a powerful engine and poly suspension bushings, outhandles my MM by so much it's not funny. And it has stock suspension from 1977. No aftermarket sway bars or anything like that. Addco bars and reinforced rear arms will help a bunch I'm sure, but I can go put huge sway bars on the camaro too if I felt like it...

I like it. If I had money I didn't know what to do with I would buy one for sure.

It is personal, but I do not like it. Especially the rear looks like some japanese car of the 70's (Celica ?). If I had to quit FORD, I would rather go for a Challenger...

Bottom line, though. The Big three are giving us some wonderful choices, no matter what your taste.

All of 'em faster than stink, and if looked at in 50's dollars + inflation a terrific deal, even the Shelby GT 500 Mustang, which we'll be able to get for sticker, once the dust settles.

Be patient, Grasshopper, these are wonderful times. Plan wisely, for times will change, and the opportunity will be gone forever.

I was always a sucker for the '69 Camaro rear quarter, and this new one cranks my clock.

Many MMs on this net can run in the 11s, out handle a Camaro or Mustang and are still under full warranty. During my Atlanta Motor Speedway and Road Atlanta adventures it clearly handled very well with my suspension mods as have many other MMs I know that visit this site. Here is a little taste of AMS and a 11 sec run by one of our net MMs.
