"The company will also end speculation about its Mercury division by making the brand an integral part of its new small-car strategy, according to these people, who spoke on the condition that they not be quoted by name because of the timing of the official announcement on Thursday."

Actually if this pans out it is good news for Mercury. Ford could either kill it or do something pretty different with it to bring it back and it looks like going small is the right move, esp right now. I dont see gasoline getting any cheaper inthe future either. One benefit of this might be Mercury getting some of the hot smaller euro Ford vehicles. This is about the best news we could expect really.

I am honestly surprised they are keeping the company around. Unless like Vortex said it is only to introduce some of the Euro Fords - which look amazing from what I hear.

I seriously doubt they will be tackling the might that is Dodge RWD v8 line. I am not sure why Ford dropped the ball on that one. They backed their Truck and SUV line, cant blame them if thats the only thing that was selling for them aside from the Focus.

You figure as soon as the 300C was released they would put some balls into the Crown Vic or the Town Car. V8 and 200hp is making me giggle!

It is a shame they killed the Marauder it at least could hold a candle to the SRT models...

they could drop a 3-valve into a interceptor platform, and compete pretty well. our 4-valve would be better, but its a start.
