Why do you believe it's the compressor that's causing the problem?

when i turn the a/c on every 30 seconds or so there is a loud clicking or knocking sound coming from the a/c. no sounds at all when the ac is off though

Sounds to me like the clutch gap is too large??

Go to AutoZone and get the clutch holding tool and remove the clutch......remove one or more shims to tighten the gap and you should be OK!!

I had a CV that the A/C would just quit every 30 seconds or so but restarted in 15 seconds or so......took it to an A/C shop and they performed this shim service...took 5 minutes and cost me $35.00....:mad2:

I did it on the Marauder last summer......works great!!:bows:

BTW, the gap increases due to normal wear and gap should be around .005" on the low side and no more than .025".....I think??:cool4:

Good Luck....It's HOT here too!!!

I have always had good service life from a/c compressor's.

Follow some of the leads others have provided above and report back.

Thanks
