View Full Version : Cobra Emblems on Marauders

I like the cobra emblems some of you guys have put on your cars. 2 questions:
1) After doing a search at the site, I read that we don't exactly have Cobra engines but Mach 1 engines. True, False, any input?
2) Do I have to go through a dealer for them or does anyone know a better way of landing them?
Thanks Guys.

It's not a "Cobra" motor. It's a Cobra-like motor so I wouldn't put anything that says cobra on. Cobra motors were hand assembled and the intake is on the right side.
BTW.... we don't have "SVT" cars either nor are Marauders "Police Interceptors"
IMHO... if it aint, DON"T

I got mine on eBay, they came with adhesive already on them, but there was knob on it that was suppose to snap into a hole in the fender, I cut it off with a dremel tool and slapped em on.

Available in all sizes and colors on Ebay. The general public always asks if it has a Cobra motor but it is basically the same as the Mach 1 motor of the same year. Cobra motor is a cast iron block. Rick

Yea I figured what I read was right. They sure look good on these cars though, and I'm really not a fan at all of altering the appearance of these cars.
I definitely know we do not have Police Interceptors and why we are compared to them is a mystery to me. But, I thought that we did have something to do with SVT. I thought they had a hand in some of our designing, at least thats what I read when I was researching the Marauder before I bought my first one.

I'm not really a fan of the Cobra emblems on our Marauders but if you like it go for it. Why don't we stick an SRT-8 emblem on the back....we do have 8 cylinders....
I think we have a Roush intake manifold. May be wrong though.

I have 'em; came on the car when I bought it.
I know they are not correct, but I haven't had the heart to take 'em off. The former owners told me he measured where the emblems were placed on a Cobra Mustang, and attached them accordingly on the MM. See Below...

You won't be alone....while you're at it look into the Police intercepter badge too, think of it as helping slow down traffic that's trying to pass you, or rather seeing how CVPI's want to grow up into MMPI's. :D

I like to think of my car as more then a mustang that is why I shall not be putting mustang emblems on my car. The MartyO marauder flags are probably the only emblem I would consider putting on my car. Its that retro cool.

I have mine above the beltline 2" up and 2" from the door. It breaks up the slab-sidedness of the huge fender. It gets the point across that it's packing heat and not just a Grand Marquis with wheels. Got mine from www.mustangsunlimited.com (http://www.mustangsunlimited.com) and they stick right on with no locating pin. I learned something here - I thought the motors were essentially the same. I didn't know the Cobra had an iron block. I didn't know ANY 32 valve InTech had an iron block. Maybe if "somebody" made little 3D god's head badges then we could get a group buy. Anyone.........

heres the Jiffy, MArauders have the Mach1 Engine in it, as well as the Lincoln Navigator, and some trucks. Technically you have the OLD Cobra motors (before they threw superchargers on them) with the Higher compression ratio. The Cobra motor( 2003-2006) have a much lower compression ration b\c of the super charger addon, in your Production "generation" there were 2 different 4.6 4v engines, one with a 10.1 cpmresison ratio( Mach1, Navigator , Maruader), and one with 8.9???? i think ( for the supercharged Cobra)
So
THE MARAUDERS HAVE A MACH1 Engine in it

To each their own. I have a few Saleen stuff on my car. The Merc I'll leave alone. I know whats under the hood and that makes me happy. I think the appeal of that car is that it looks just bad ass enough to stand out but not massivly "BRING IT ON!!" Besides I get in more races with the merc because people are to damn scared to run the GT. Well that and the really loud V1 s-trim under the hood.

The only rude comments I get from people are that the MM is a police interceptor under the skin. UMMM NO it's not. It boils my blood.
I still get people moving out of my way with the all the stuff I have on my car. I've only had positive comments about the Cobra fender emblems.

LOL!
You guys have some really good ideas though. I like the God's Head theme and I completely forgot about the Marauder decal like what was on the originals, thats sharp.
The Cobra emblems do tell people that you are packing heat. But, on the other hand, the only person I need to impress is myself. 90% of the world doesn't know what a Marauder is anyways.
A really good point that I didn't think of and a couple people posted is the fact our cars are more unique then Mustangs, therefore they won't put a Mustang badge on theirs. I do agree. But for those of you with them on your Marauders, I do stand by you that it is sharp on there.
One thing is for sure, I like the fact that people are clueless of our cars, the appearance is intimidating let alone what even a bone stock one can do at a green light, and throwing on a small simple decal really has them thinking, WTF.

Somebody mentioned that MMs aren't Police Interceptors. True, but you can get a nice "Panther Interceptor" badge from Innovative Interceptors (one of our sponsors). I just got one and the fuel filler flap to protect the paint under the fuel door. Both are first rate. I haven't decided if I am going to put the badge on, though. Mine just has the red "R" that Dennis Reinhart put on the back and I am thinking that is just enough (Subtle, but for those that know, serious).
I still like the Panther Interceptor badge, though. Maybe I'll stick it on the wall in my office.
Here is the link to the badge. They have them for only $10.

The only emblems that I tolerate on my cars are
- the side fender Marauder badge and the SCT logo for the MM
- the side fender V8 logo and the SCT logo for the MGM
I would not put any Cobra neither Abarth nor anything else that is not reflecting the truth. But that is personal...

I have the MartyO Marauder fender badges. They are the only exterior mod I have. My sister still thinks its a Crown Vic. She wanted to race me with her new Nissan Altima 4 banger car. She refused when I said $100 to the winner. This is the same person who thought her Dodge Avenger with a hot 170hp v6 was a sports car. :shake: She also refused to race my Focus with that POS.

Our motor 4.6L D.O.H.C. was first use by LINCOLN in the early '90's Mark's. Ford then put it in the mustang cobra in '99 ( I thnk?)
Mercury never ever had a tie in with cobra.
Feel free to put on your marauder what ever you please:)
SVT had nothing to do with the marauder, they were too "busy" so Rouch did the intake:up:

BTW,
If you really want to confuse people, get Tom Doan to sell you a Panther Interceptor Emblem for the rear where the Police Interceptor badge is typically located -- our MMs have every PI part except the revised driveshaft, as far as I know. Plus, we have the Mach I engine that the PIs dod not have to this day!

Ford first put the 4v in the 1996 Cobra, I think they were around 320hp. I know a lot of the Mark 8 guys take the 96-98 intake manifold, port it out and put it on their Mark 8s for a good bump in power.
We have to throw different things into the mix since there are only 4 colors, same wheels and all. At MVV just about every Marauder had just a little something different from each other which is nice. Dare to be different and make your car your own.

I get asked quite often if my DTR has the PI engine in it. When I say no they assume its a stock 4.6 To which I answer no, it has a motor made just for this car and will run away and hide from a PI.
