I am pulling out the engine on the 65 Chevy and I cannot get it out! I have been working all day to get this done and no one is picking up their phones! :mad2: Zack is good for it, but I think he's had enough of me. Here is what I have done:

1. Disconnected the motor mounts

2. All hoses/lines

3. Driveshaft has been disconnected

4. Transmission has been disconnected from the 2 bolts that held it near the driveshaft.

5. Hood taken off for clearance.

6. Exhaust manufolds taken off

Now there is one thing that I cannot seem to get that I think is the answer. There is one bolt that is holding the transmission right by the driveshaft. This looks like it is connected to some sort of rubber that is between the frame and the transmission, I keep turning the bolt and it keeps spinning, but not getting loose. I cannot grab the other side of the bolt because it is surrounded by rubber. Could this be it? If so how do I loosen it? Do I have to destroy the rubber?

A crane or engine lift would help.

Them be heavy.

I have an engine lift, but how do I cut the bolt?

That is a transmission bolt, you should probably just remove the cross member that goes from side to side, it is the item that has the bolt poking through it. You will also want to support the transmission when doing this, once the crossmember is removed, lower your transmission, and pull your motor/trans in one operation.

Sledge Hammer

That'll do the job, but this truck isn't on a lift so I can't use something like that easily.

Yes it is.

If you are right I am buying you a round of Chicken Wings at MV6. If you don't like that I will bring a bucket of pickles.

The cross member drops out.

What I don't understand is why nobody else is giving what I would consider helpful ideas:shake:.

We all had to learn somewhere and at sometime, have the rest of you forgotten?:flamer:

Darn, Dom. I was gonna tell you the same thing as Spectragod.

Um, do I qualify for a share of the bucket of pickles; me loves pickles?

Dom, just push it against the edge of the garage and the engine should fall right out!!

Sorry, but I couldn't resist.

It's not a modern GM, it won't do that. :p
