Rear Axle D & C......

Well Folks......

I had my trans rebuilt at 160K miles and the rear end started making a "whirring" or whistling noise recently that I thought might be worn tire but new tires didn't correct it!!??:argue:

I got new axles, bearing and seals.....replaced them (only the right one showed wear) and still no change!!:cool:

Took it to my trans guy who builds rear ends as well and he tore it down today to find the front pinion bearing had a bad roller and the race had a bad spot as well......he also checked the LSD clutches and they were clean and showed factory tolerances and spider gears looked new so those will be OK!!:beer:

BTW.....at 177K+ miles the OEM unit still does the "Two Stripe" quite well!!!:bows:

New bearings coming tomorrow (pinion and carrier) so I should be back up and running tomorrow PM or Friday AM!!!:D

Going for 200K miles on the motor now but if it breaks I'll build it and keep going......THIS HAS BEEN (AND STILL IS) ONE GREAT CAR!!!!:beer:

What is your car's birthday so we can see when the best ones were put out. It's in the driver door vin sticker. If in search. :)

Took delivery on 11-25-03 and I believe it was built in late October but I'll check when I get it back.

Window sticker says 10-31-03??:cool:

Attached is a photo of the right axle with over 177K miles....the left one was fine!!:beer:

I'll get a photo of the pinion bearing today.
