View Full Version : I'm Jonesing for a Laserwash
Ok as we all know black can be a Biotch to keep clean, but during my recent trip to VA, I bulldozed many swarms of bugs and needed to be shining for my family reunion. So I stumbled into what happened to be a touchless car wash which blew me away!
That thing was so through and the results were stunning, which was as good as I do short of a hand waxing!
I went two more times before I went home and have been needing something of that standard ever since. Their website shows that their 4 ny locations are all in Rochester which is on lake Erie. I also have been searching for thier franchises but to no avail.
Anyone know of any laser, or even touchless car washes in NYC? Maybe even further out? Maybe I'm just going through withdrawal, am I addicted to automated washes?

Hmmmm business venture? There are tons of car washes in Queens. How about a Manhattan brushless wash?

What exactly is a laser wash? I mean I assume its not like walking into a pink floyd laser show, right?

Washes without touching the vehicle. Uses high pressure water .
The machine follows the shape of the vehicle.
IMO thtat's where the laser comes from.
Used one a couple of times and the work great.
Found one near Hershey, PA and one in Olean , N.Y.
Nothing in the NYC area that I know of.

Humm, that is a good idea. And that abandoned gas station right on the corner of a busy 5 point intersection gets a lot of traffic, especially cabs which washed pretty much every day.

Indeed there's a good one on queens boulevard near a bunch of dealerships and near the Grand Central parkway

I will never put my car thru a carwash again...my paint too brittle on the roof and I have deer horns I cherish. I will keep to the hand washings...but with my other car a laser wash is the way to go.

He mentioned that the only locations in NY are in Rochester. If you look at a map of NY, they may as well be in Florida because its way too far to go for a car wash for us who live within the New York city limits.

So I guess you missed the thread on reading comprehension? I mention in the first post specifically how I found that they have those locations and that they are entirely out of reach. Back to the lounge with ye! :P
But at least I got to see exactly where the member with a picture of the guy in the 'coonskin hat and sunglasses lives.

We have touchless carwash stations all over Minnesota, not sure if there "laser" brand or what not....one thing to be CAUTIONED about the TOUCHLESS car washes...you wonder how they get it sooooo clean with out touching the vehicle? A good friend and profesional detailer told me when I bought the MM that they are the worst thing you can do to your paint/clear coat, said if I can help it don't take it threw 'em..... See they clean by using very harsh cemicals, he said if you have any wax on it at all kiss it goodbye...My :twocents:

Be very VERY careful with them. If you've got a black merc I wouldn't touch them with a 10ft pole. I avoid them like the plague. I may use a hand wash manual bay where I can keep the jet pretty far from the car. But the automated stuff, stay away from it if you value your paints finish. You can used presurized water with sand in it to cut through steel. Imagine what it does to your paint if your car is dirty.

Sand blasting works in an entirely different way.

humm, I had a feeling about the chemicals, hell they fess up to it in the marque. and after the vibrations from water I'd figured that my wax was gone, now I know.

Indeed, but I usually never let my car get that dirty, just to the point where the shine is just leaving, and I just a duster every time I leave and come back.

Upstate NY geography lesson for my NYC breathren, Rochester is on Lake Ontario, Buffalo is on Lake Erie. Both are no where near NYC. My ex who was from Brooklyn actually thought there were only woods and Indians north of the Bronx until she went to college at SU. :shake:
Laser washes are all over the place upstate. They do a good job in a pinch, depending on how they are setup. The local one goes around the car once where as the ones in Oneida go around twice for less money.
