I think there's a ghost in my Marauder.

Ether that, or I have no clue how the factory alarm system works. I was out waxing the car yesterday. I go hard when I wax. With the 90 degree plus temps here right now, made me want to get the wax job done as fast as possbile.

Anyway, I started waxing the bottom part of my driver's door, and (kerthunk)... down go my power door locks. I found this odd, but kept waxing. I get to the back of the door, and I'm pretty sure I heard the door locks go again. (Note... car key is in my back pocket). Headlights are on autolamp postion, car was started for about 2 minutes while I rolled up the windows before waxing it. I didn't get to the front doors and fenders for about 1/2 hou after I started the car last.

I get to the bottom section of the LF fender, and the headlights turn on. WTF?

Do our cars have a motion sensor or tilt (anti-tow) sensor in them? Do you think I set this off? Was Christine recycled and made into my car? All joking aside, anyone have any ideas or has anyone heard of this?

Wow...23 views and no responses! All joking aside.... I really thought the vehicle might have a motion sensor in the factory alarm setup. No ideas on this?

I remember the ford anti-theft system is either a fuel cut off, or coil cut off no spark to the plugs. The anti-theft system on my F-150 only goes off when the doors are locked and you open it from the inside door handles. Otherwise you can hit it all you want and not a thing happens.

No factory-installed system on Marauders. Many threads on the subject can be found here.

Sounds like someone was screwing with you or you kept hitting the keyless entry remote in your pocket as you flexed and moved around

Keys in the pocket. I am always starting my truck that way. Happens when you were bending down.

No motion or anti-tow sensors. The only thing the anti-theft system does is look for the doors, trunk or hood switches to open, after the car has been locked, without the proper unlocking procedure (i.e. keyfob, key or keyless entry code). If what you said was happening, you probably were hitting the keyfob while bending over. The headlamps will come on when you unlock the car with the autolamps on if the sunload sensor deemed it necessary.

+3 on your bending down and activating the key fob.

Nope. The only factory installed anti-theft system is the PATs.

You know, now that you mention the whole key fob thing, that would make sense. LOL....duh on my part. Seems stupid now that I think about it!

And FordNut.... really? I thought the card had an antitheft system in them. I just assumed because of the flashing light on the dash. I looked at page 76 of the manual, and you're absolutely right. I'd always thought they came with an antitheft system. Sounds like I need to post more of my dumb questions....

Thanks all for the advice

keys in the pocket. I bend over to tie my shoe and hear some morons car alarm go off. It gets louder as I approach my garage. It's my Marauder going off. I run down and think like that volvo I rented in college it has to be a thing where you click the door open and it stops. No effect. I open the door. No effect. I put the key in and don't turn it to the on position. No effect.

I get out close the door and lock it. No effect.

I'm beginning to panic thinking I'm going to have to back up, if it will start and pop the hood and disconect the battery. Then I look at the keyless fob. red button. Press that everything turns off.

Wow I found the moron.

Appears I stand corrected. Didn't take time to look up if the Marauder (or any Panther of that generation, for that matter) had the old RAPS system which was an active alarm system. My bad!

I had a Ford System 4 Alarm added to the keyless entry system. It's just a module that plugs in. The dealer did it. It adds an actual alarm and anti-theft system. If you open the doors or trunk with the key without disarming, alarm goes off and you can't start the car.

You just perked my attention with that last post.

You say that this is a Ford accesory, and it just plugs into the car somewhere? No wires, no fuss no muss? I assume it honks the horn and flashes the lights if the car is monkeyed with?

How much was it? Normally, I HATE aftermarket add-on anythings, especially stereos and alarm systems, but if it's just plug and play and it's from Ford, I'm really quite interested in knowing everthing about this thing. Its a Ford System IV Alarm? If I wanted one, I'd just ask the parts guy for this very thing?

The only "wires" are for the extra LED flasher and a trunk sensor. No cutting into any factory wires and it uses your existing remotes and the keypad on the door also disarms it. That's why I went for it.

It does honk the horn similar to hitting the panic button and flashes the headlights. The unit itself has the shock sensor and if a door is opened without disarming, boom, it goes off.

I can't remember how much it was exactly since I was just absorbed into the car's final cost at the dealer. I think it may have been like $200-ish???

You should be able to ask for one for that car. I'm 99% sure it is called the system 4 alarm. They're still offering in on new fords so you should be ok.
