I've seen quite a few of you guys running HID's. Which kits are you running? Just curious, and also how much do they usually run?

I use Sylvania Silverstars in mine----I think most of the others do as well...at least thats what we all started out 5 years ago doing --mine are still in and work fine---best light and no problem to those ahead of you---about $20 each when I got mine--not sure todays price---at local auto stores.......

Sylvania Silverstars are halogen bulbs not HID.

I run a 6000k Bi-Xenon (low/high beam) single bulb kit made by McCulloch.

There are different types of HID bulbs.

Cheapest - HID low beam, halogen hi beam - 1 ballast per side
More expensive - 1 HID bulb that moves up-n-down to give you hi & low beams - 1 ballast per side
Most expensive - HID bulbs for hi & low beams - 2 ballasts per side

Also look at the temperature of the bulb, the higher the temperature the lower the light output. I'd recommend going with 6000k bulbs - the whitest color.

Thanks guys. I was planning on the 6k's as well.

How is the glare? is it nasty like I'm going to kill someone or does the OEM housing reflect it okay?

Also don't do business with anyone not in the U.S. You can get cheaper prices if you buy from China but the support will be non-existent as well as any parts that might be missing or warranty issues.

The first ebay ad are people that I purchased several kits from. They have a lifetime warrany on bulbs and ballast. THe kits are pretty nice but the past 2 kits i got had the wires wired backwords for the high/low beams. The High were HIDs and low standard halogen for the 9007 bulb and my H4 kit was a wrong plug. I had to chop and rewire the bulbs. just a heads up.

If your lights are aimed at the factory level you will need to aim them down some to help not blind people. Trust me I know lol. 6K is middle of the road for brightness and color. 4300k is the brightest light and as you go up in K temp the color goes blue, bluish purple, to purple.

A lot of people will say you don't need high beam but the feature is nice to have. I do a lot of night time long dark highway and country road driving. Flip the high beams on, light beam shifts up and I can see a good 1/4 mile down the road with ease. Don't be afraid to spend a little bit of money on these, SOMETIMES you can find a good deal and they work but other times you get what you pay for. I paid $400ish for mine which are one of top OEM HID mfgr for Euro cars.

Fastblack, are you running this kit? I like the idea of those lights. So they are a true dual kit?
