I had a set that was being passed around.

The method was to take the set that came in, powder coat or whatever, put them on the car and then pass along the ones that came off the car.

We got through four or more cars that way.

Somewhere in the chain of doing this, a less than honorable MM owner passed along a cracked set of Cam covers.

So I had the last guy in the chain throw the damaged covers in the trash.

These Covers have been in the CRACK free zone!
I am in possession of the other CAM cover that were originally Hotrauder's. I was in the process of clear coating them but I ended up spraying one side and getting over spray on the other side, and when I'd do the other side... you guessed it over spray again. So I squashed the idea for a bit since I've been dealing with other problems that have come up. Also engine clear coat had to be ordered from Cali via Summit.
Not to worry the covers are ready for the next contestant on "How can I make my engine even prettier"

Quite frankly, with the covers on the road for nearly three years I can't even be sure I could trace it down to a specific person etc.

I just know who had them last and they said they were cracked. How exactly that happened and who was at fault :dunno:

The $100 lost on those cam covers isn't worth the aggravation.

I am happy for the guys that got to participate and get theirs done.

That being said, if and when I get off my lazy butt and put my Ford GT covers on the MM, I won't be circulating my OEM take offs. ;)

FYI, this topic was brought up on the MCM site a week or so ago and it seems there are two sets of serviceable covers available for use, I believe. Blackmobile and jspradii (AKA Laughing Gasse, Jim), both members of this site. This info is current.

I had Jim's extra covers for a while but didn't use them for various reasons and returned them to him yesterday. He lives in the same town. Those covers are purple in color but have a few scratches. FWIW.

I've got my original set of stock cam covers available...
I installed a new set of "Powered by Ford" covers...
Anyone who needs a set for temporary use can use mine...
they just need to pay the shipping to them and back to me when finished...
When I purchased the new covers from Ford Racing the shipping was just $10.00...
I'm located just across the state line from Memphis...

i think you are talking about the coil covers. "cam covers" are what most people would call valve covers.

I just saw this post... I was the last one to receive the set that AZ is talking about. I never really checked them out until Dr. DOOM requested them to have polished and we realized the crack in one of the covers. The good thing is that there wasn't 4 hrs of labor spent on polishing before the cracks were found... That being said, I feel bad that it was dicovered on my watch... I will be replacing mine in a few months and if all goes well I will be donating my set for the greater-good and offering them as a pass-around. AZ, thanks again.
