View Full Version : Production Numbers - Crown Victoria LX Sports

Am looking for the Crown Victoria production build totals by year, by model.
*and perchance - by options.

In particular the production build totals for the 2003 Crown Victoria LX Sport (though would be interested in 2001's SAP as well as 2002-8).
*bonus would be break-down with exterior and interior colors.

Have already found the total Crown Victoria production #s @ BlueOvalNews (78,541 - 2003), however, it's not the granularity that I'm looking for.

Any assistance (even just pointing me in a direction) would be appreciated.
*i.e. any FoMoCo | STAP point-of-reference/contact/connection.

Ummmm ... There quite a few threads here regarding this for the Marauders.

Taxi # 932,002 out of 1,000,424. Wooden beaded seat covers optional. It's an MM site, you're going to get some flack for asking how many crown victoria's were produced. LOL.

I happen to know Joe and he is a great guy! I think comments like this are out of line. If you need to rag on someone maybe you should go to another site. He has helped many people here and has been able to come up with parts and ideas to help us all. This is not Right! :mad2:

I have to agree, and on the other hand, who do you think is going buy our stock parts?

On another note, look at his info, he's been around here for a while, He's not a Nube!

Meh I was just pokin fun not ripping.

My point was I am not sure how easy it is to track down a production number for a car that has 100k in production.

Unless the LX Sport was like a special edition or something or part of a different run...

Is there a Vin# code difference for a Vic sport verses a plain LX? (Example: 03 marauder is 75V and a Grand Marquis is 74V )

The P74 model for the LX can also be for the Sport, too.

Done there, been that (that was the 1st stop), however, no useful leads todate.

Thought I might be able to leverage some of the insight expertise that resides here (especially since it's already been done). *guess not

you might find out which vendor supplied the consoles, find out how many consoles were shipped, subtract the MM numbers, and the ultimate LSEs (may have to guestimate that number) then you have a number to guestimate with.

Actually (as noted previously) the 2003 Crown Victoria production total was 78,541. And I'm bettin' that the good portion of those are fleet (P71 - LEO, P70/72 - taxi|limo) and a small amount of base (P73). Out of the P74 (LX) the Sport is a VERY small subset (the FoMoCo MY target was 15% of the civilian (P73 / P74) production).
*Just trying to quantify the actual to as fine a granularity as possible.

As a FYI .... The 2003 Grand Marquis production total was 86,986 (10% more than your stated ... Taxi ... wooden beaded seat covers optional ... numbers).
*According to MercuryMarauder.net stat's - 7839 were Marauders.

It's an MM site, you're going to get some flack for asking how many crown victoria's were produced. LOL.
Ergo the posting in ..... The Lounge All OFF-TOPIC, marauder unrelated posts must go here.

Like it or not the Panthers are produced from the same assembly plant.

RoyLPita - The P74 model for the LX can also be for the Sport, too.
T'is true, however, the Sport option code was 230A.
*LX option code was 200A.

Blackmobile - I have to agree, and on the other hand, who do you think is going buy our stock parts?
Been doin' that since late 2002 / early 2003.
*Followed lineage of 2001 SAP (Sport Appearance Package) > Sport > Black Hawk > S55 and convertible concepts > Marauder. Realized that the Marauder would be a limited run, like the SVO Mustang (have several of those parts also).

On another note, look at his info, he's been around here for a while, He's not a Nube!

Yeah, but the insurance peeps will total a Marauder faster than a speeding bullet, more so than a CV.

CV Sports are no where near as rare as Marauders, obviously. Yet I have seen FEWER CV Sports on the road than I have Marauders! (Like many, I believe Ford/Mercury did a remarkably poor job marketing these vehicles.)

Clue me into the difference between a CV "Sport" and a normal CV. Dont they have the 2v engines?

All I heard is that the Sport is able to be tuned like a GT stang....

DJCV - CV Sports are no where near as rare as Marauders, obviously.
I'm bettin' that for the 2003 and 2004 model years that the Sport was produced in fewer numbers than the Marauders for the corresponding years.

Recall the stat' previously posted that indicated that for 2003 the MY target for Sport production was only 15% of the civilian models (P73 and P74).

Most of the 2003 production numbers would be sucked-up by the fleet models (P71 - LEO, P70,P72 - taxi, limo').

The only reason that there would be more Sports is that they were produced in 2001 (as SAP - Sport Appearance Package) and 2002 thru 2008.

And how much marketing did you notice for the Sport (in any of the years) ?
*At least the Marauder got some magazine / media coverage.

LX sport had 17" 5-spoke rims, buckets/floor shift. on top of typical LX handling package.

there is one TDR one running around here, and about 5 marauders. they might be rarer, no ads whatsoever as far as I can tell, tiny blurb in brochure only.

In 2003 and 2004 all models of the civilian Crown Victorias were available ... base/standard (P73)
LX (P74)
LX Sport (P74)Also available were the ... commercial heavy duty standard (P72)
extended (P70)
.
police (P71)
