Don't worry not the Marauder, but my 03 Grand Marquis. I went to turn it on tonight, all of a sudden I hear a terrible grinding noise near the driver side cat ( I have dual exhaust on it). Then I turned it off. There is some faint smoke rising out of the engine compartment near the right side/exhaust manifold. There is also a faint burning smell. I did not leave it on for very long, less then 30 seconds. Any thoughts before I tow it in on Monday???

there was a recall on the cat insulators.

can you see anything under there? squirrel,cat etc?

I should also mention before the noise began, there was a loud thump
Who knows. The car was running fine 6 hours before :(

Did a header bolt back out?

Right side of the engine............maybe the starter bendix stayed out after starting and didn't retreat back.
