I started hearing a noise in my rear-end and some people say that my axles are shot. Ok. I added it to the list to go along with my gear install.
Tuner was on the list as well.... so now I was up to around $1000.
I knew I needed tires out back soon.... but not soon as in TODAY. :(
$420 for 2 rears with hazard and all.
Tune and gears are now a little farther off.

What type of noises are you hearing from your rear end... Hehe.. Rear end of your car of course.

It just sounds like metal rubbing in harmonics with the speed. It's rotational for sure. Either the posi unit or axles. :/ I just noticed it the other week because I had to drive with my stereo off.... so the noise could have been there all along and could be normal.... :/ Don't know.

Can you pin point which side its coming from, have you used your E-brake recently?

I can't pin-point a side. The sound is rotational and all that stuff is hooked to the car with metal... the sound is transfering. I need to get the car in the air and mess around with it.
I'm in FL and our steepest hill is like 3 ft.... I never use my E-brake.

Well that's why I asked because I never use mine, and one day I had to and a shoe came apart was making a similar sound to what you described

It seems like these things add up.
I know they did on my trip...

I had a stuck rear brake caliper on my daily driver crown vic that would sometimes make noise & sometimes cause a slight vibration depending on the speed.

more than likely it is your axles, being its a 03, mine were replaced 10k miles ago at 57k miles..noise was very bad and it kept getting worse
