You have my best wishes. My wife is from Shreveport and her daughter is attending LSUS. I hope things don't get too out of hand with the evacuees. That storm is going to carry a lot of rain even if you don't get hit with the wind. Be careful and be watchfull. Good luck.

Just spoke with my sister who lives in Mandeville, LA. They left yesterday. They are now almost to McKinney, TX after having gotten a call last night that they had to evacuate from their motel in some small TX town (120 miles inland). The powers that be are taking this one very seriously. :depress:

Billy:

We lived in Zachary, LA for 9 years and only 2 miles from the Mississippi River and went through several hurricanes. So I know what people are going through. The land all the way up to North of Baton Rouge is very flat and low. Even heavy rains can completely submerge all the surrounding land - very unreal. The best of luck and you will be in our prayers. Great news on you having a NG generator. They will be needed.

Thanks all. The forecast for where we are is safe and for our home is safe.

It is amazing how much people help each other. Our neighbor here gave us his keys before he left, he has a large and sturdy house, it's where we will be tomm. We have people who evac to our house. Many acroos the country have extended their homes.

After Katrina I know of dozens of divorced couples who remarried and ended up living w/ each other for months, strange when they tell you but it worked.

Any differences are but a grain of sand on a vast beach.

@7:00am I was chain sawing and draging w/ Dennis Reinharts 4WD branches, got 100 yds of road cleared and massive trees blocked the road.

Spoke to a neighbor, only other person there.

I went back to the camp where a live oak had fallen paralel to frt door 6' away. Tried to chop but to big and stcuk chain saw. Had to hatchet out the chain saw, next time will bring Axe.

Neighbor leading local vol fireman w/ tractor and real chain saws.

Road cleared in 4 hours!

Rotten Tree from nature preserve in my back yard put hole in my master bedroom ceiling. Called my contractor and told him I would give him a hold harmless to cut down the other rotten trees in the preserve, he said not necessary w/ all thats going on.:)

I wanted wood floors in the masterbedroom like our previous house, now I will have them.:D

Got to run my client owns the "navy ships" u keep seeing on the news.
