View Full Version : Couldnt Wait Any Longer
My engine and heads will not be done anytime soon, and Im tired of the car sitting in the driveway.
Its a 5.0 (Big Bore Block) 9.5;1 compression, Ported Heads and Cams....Whipple 3.4 Yadda Yadda Yadda.
Im done waiting, the car needs to be mobile again.
So.... this weekend Im picking up a 250 mile COMPLETE engine.
Comes with Computer, wiring harness, accessories EVERYTHING :banana2:
It will be NA for now.
It wont be the fastest Marauder around.
...But it WILL be the first Marauder on the road....
...with a 2006 Triton 3-Valve V10.
I guess Ill have to install the little 5.0 and Whipple in my daily driven BLUE when its done.
Life sucks. :burnout:

I hope that you can make the PCM work on the 4R70W and not just on the Torqshift.
The 6.8L, 3 Valve (non-VCT) Triton V-10 cranks out 362 HP at 4750 PM and makes 457 ft lbs of torque.
It does have a balance shaft configuration and probably has scheduled maintenace for this item.
The GSA ruled that complaints against this engine for internal failures were not any more frequent than what would be expected.
I imagine the engine bay and drive train mods will be extensive.

Electronic 5-Speed TorqShift Auto (Gas) - $1,490
Automatic five-speed heavy duty transmission with mode select, lock-up, electronic control, shift lever on column, 3.110:1 first gear ratio, 2.220:1 second gear ratio, 1.550:1 third gear ratio, 1.000:1 fourth gear ratio and 0.710:1 fifth gear ratio; Automatic drive indicator on dashboard; Excludes: [445] 6-Speed Manual Transmission (Gas) And [447] 6-Speed Manual Transmission (Diesel) And [44B] Electronic 5-Speed TorqShift Automatic; Requires: [995] 5.4L 3-Valve SOHC EFI Triton V-8; Or [99Y] 6.8L 3-Valve SOHC EFI Triton V-10
I hope that you can make the PCM work on the 4R70W and not just on the Torqshift.
I can always get a PCM from an earlier model v10 with the 4R series trans.
The older pcm should work fine. As long as it has the drivers for the 2 extra cylinders :D
Then again I could change my mind before the weekend

This will definatly fit under the hood, no doubt about that. There wont be ANY room for a blower, however.
Zack, what about the throttle by wire the newer V-10's have? How will you incorporate that into the marauder???

I have an evil plan of demise for the tecno-weenie twigget bean counter who got that damn throttle by wire deal sold to production ... it involves a drowning on dry land that takes about two weeks ... :mad2:  :mad2:

KarKraft.com they have bunch of engines that you could play with and not take forever to do fab work to make a 6.8L fit lol.

Wish you luck on your new project. :banana2:

Looking forward to this install...." I gotta V10! "
BTW: Kenne Bell must make a S/C kit for the V10s because there is a guy who lives near my neighborhood who I've seen driving a V10 Ford truck.
The truck has special badges under the 'Triton V10' badges.
The special badge looks exactly like the Ford's chrome powerstroke badge except that it says;
"Kenne Bell
Twin Screw"
He also has an aftermarket exhaust and "SCT" stickers on the tailgate.

They do, I've driven a V10 with a KB. Even with 38" tires it lit them up like slicks through a water box. Man what a CRAZY sound.

Hot Rod magazine. That was about 5-6 years ago IIRC. The guy said he couldn't get a race outta anyone 'cause they all thought he was a cop.
I'll try to dig up that issue.

Not sure if this is the same episode but a Mustang enthusiast I know, after hearing what I related about Zack's V10 swap project, said " sure, there's a company in Southern California that makes kits for putting V10's in Police Interceptors, they do it on a regular basis".
WOW, we don't have to worry about a shortage of Marauders motors, just get a V10 engine and kit. The possibilities are mind boggling for those with cash.
Going to pick it up this Saturday at 8am

Any preliminary thoughts on shoe-horning it in Zack?
Any preliminary thoughts on shoe-horning it in Zack?
I went and took a hard look at an 09 f350 yesterday with the same engine.
It appears as though it will drop right in.
The oil pan looks like it will clear the MM crossmember, and the small 3v cam covers will hopefully clear on both sides.
The motor mount holes on the block appear to be identical to a 4.6, and the AC and PS pump holes appear to be the same as well.
The only real hurdle I anticipate is the transmission, but I already have my eye on a built Turbo 400 locally.
I think the hood will close, even with the stock intake.
Im gonna try and set it in the car by next weekend.

What is the HP & TRQ rating of the 3 valve Triton V10?
I was thoroughly unimpressed by the weak 2 valve version...

How much weight will this motor be over our stock motors? Are you going to have to increase the spring rate for the springs. I hope you have a big brake kit lol.
Weight of a fully dressed v10 is 640 IIRC.
A stock 4.6 weighs like 550 and if you change to an iron block, you are back to around 640.
Weight is not an issue.
Vortech347

Yes but simply bolt a whipple or KB on that beast and you're gona have a torque monster which is EXACTLY what these cars need. Zack convert that damn thing to a G-force T-56 and some 4.30's in the back.

The weight difference is less than a trilogy kit. How about headers? Box of bends?
