I was just wondering if anybody here installed the D/S loop? I was wondering if this is an ok brand, how simple is the install, and what are the benefits of using this?? Just a thought!!! Thanks

Bolts to the seat belt bolts if I remember right Dave. Drive shaft is easy to remove. It may also be two piiece so you dont have to remove the driveshaft. its also possible I am confusing it with the one we put on the Fairlane.

Ok good to know about the safety part, but what does it actually prevent, what will I gain from this???

AS far as i know the main reason to use a drive shaft safety loop is to keep the drive shaft if it disconnects at the front from ripping the rear end out of car or general mayhem like that.

you will hopefully never need to use it but its there if the u joints or yoke or something on the drive shaft breaks and causes it to spin wildly.

drive shaft break with out loop = death to most of under side on car

drive shaft break with loop = hopefully damage is minimum

thanks for the info John, i should see it this week

Is it really necessary though on N/A cars? I mean it couldn't hurt anything. I don't think mine has enough tourque to snap a DS

never know when a u joint might break on a launch

Easy installation (though you do have to drop the driveshaft); it's a matter of replacing two of the seat mounting bolts with longer ones so that the safety-loop can be mounted to them.

*It's an inexpensive, easy to install, PoM (Peace of Mind) mod'.

I installed one on NAVCHAP's MM. It was an easy job.

For what happens when a driveshaft comes loose and pole vaults the car check out mythbusters. Driveshaft whips around and divides the trunk in two. Remember that if that happened to a MM...the gas tank would be punctured.

This loop is for the front u-joint so it wouldn't prevent any damage around the rear end. And honestly, the H-pipe or X-pipe would prevent a pole-vault. But when the front u-joint breaks the driveshaft will beat up the floorboards and potentially penetrate into the driver's compartment right about where you're sitting. And it's going to beat up the exhaust system, too. Cheap insurance, easy to install.

Just don't overtorque the nuts on the bolts... that snapping noise means its no longer a 10 minute job... don't ask me how I know. I installed mine myself and I work with tools about as well as toaster works with a bathtub.

I thought you were supposed to tighten them until they get loose again!?
