ok first i wanna introduce myself...im jeff from philly...second i subscribed to this forum because of the knowledge of marauders...

now the juicy stuff....

recently had a bbq and my cousins boyfriend mentioned he's trying to sell his car....which is a 2003 mercury marauder with 38,000 miles...what happened is, he and my cousin went away for two weeks and during his trip someone stole the stock wheels, left it on bricks and also took the front driver window out and took a flip out tv that was in the dash...

it then got towed cuz it was labeled as abandonded....so is been impounded for two weeks...

he now has no interest in the car and just wants to save it before it gets auctioned next sunday....so he offered that if i pay for it to get out and pay the 200 a month that he owes to the credit union he owes....

only problem is 4 months from now he can say i want my car back and legally get it back...so i got approved from my credit union for 8000 and i got a 1000 cash....(im in school so i only work part time)...

point of all this is he owes 11,043 on the car....do u guys realistically think they will go for me tryna buy the title off them for 9000 before it goes to auction???....im nervous as hell cause just so happen for the first time yesterday at a lot i sat in one and started it up....god im so in love....:depress:

With the miles on it.........buy it. You can get by with some CVPI steelies until you get the funds for the real deal.

The story doesn't sound right to me.
I would stay away from buying from owner because you would be responsible for the amount he owes.
Take your chances and buy it at the auction.
Good Luck.

In fact you may be better off buying it at the auction. You might be able to get it for less than the 9K and then use the extra to get the tire and rims. Buying it from the owner could be a problem unless he wants to come up with the extra 2K to pay off the loan with the credit union. In fact if it does go to auction he is still responsible for the balance owed if it sells for less than the loan amount. Who is putting it in the auction? You should also check the terms of the auction. Are they selling it with a clear title or is there some catch about the balance owed on the loan that needs to be paid off?

Don't trust anyone!!!!! Get everything in writing, and have it notorized. The insurance company will not let that car go to an impound auction, and take the loss, they will sooner take it to one of their favorite body shops, have it repaired, sell it, and back-charge your cousin.

Facebook link does not work for non facebook members...but Id say buy it from the auction...for 9k you can get a Marauder WITH rims and has not been sitting for 2 weeks "abandoned."

The whole deal sounds fishy as hell. He lets the car get impounded because he was the victim of crime? Run, don't walk away from this one. scam-o-la... There are plenty of non BS MM's to be had.

ImpalaSlayer

get one else were. they can be had for 10-15k

i mean ray u r right...it does sound fishy but im gonna go look at the car tomorrow morning at the impound lot...the only reason im trying so hard to work out a deal with the credit union is because from the convo's i had with this guy he doesnt really understand or have any care for the fact that in 10 years marauders are gonna be rare and expensive....so im tryna get a steal of a deal for a car with such low mileage....

he went on to buy a ford tauras so he just dont want it to get auctioned off...

damn i shoulda kept that money i had saved :mad2:

Those are Mustang 18" rims, like the 17" I have for the drag radials I use.

That car was just for sale recently on the forum by Grifter. Plus in his ad he had 85K miles. This is a scam or you are a spammer.

+1

but from what has been said, I'm not crazy about this whole set up and would pass and get a MM somewhere else, there's just to much fish in this whole thing.

Also PM the VIN to this guy: RoyLPita
he can get you a piece of the puzzle by showing ya the cars REPORTED history. Similar to Carfax.

But seriously, step back, take a breath, and REALLY think things through carefully. I've only been in my MM for about 10 months and can remember when I was going through the car hunting thing. I saw my fair share of possible lemons and one that I had passed on popped up here with some of the problems I suspected.

So yeah, you sound like a guy who won't beat on a car too much, so I'd hate to see your views on the MM tainted by a mismaintained one.

Why don't you just buy grifter's MM it already has the wheels and he's selling it for $11,000

Too fishy of a story..... With all that damage, the seller's insurance should have totalled it! - Or at least, fixed it.

buy it at auction, not many people are going to be interested in an "abandoned" car missing its rims and a window.
