Just remove the 2nd set of cats and save your money for some long tube headers.
I used to have side pipes that were directly off the H-pipe, no mufflers but had all four cats. It was retarded loud, had it for 3 wks and had to take them off cause I would get a headache every time I drove it for more than 20 mins.

Depends on if you just get the headers or headers and piping to do with it.
What sound are you looking for?

You should remove everything from the manifolds back... Problem solved.

our headers are about twice or more exspensive than headers for other cars it seems

Thats because its for a small ammount of cars and not many people buy them.

Removing cats and forgoing pipes could be quite loud...

who makes the shorty header's thats aculy a good idea,
keeping all the stock pipe'ing..
I can do that right in my parking spot, along with a few brused up knuckles,
also includeing a bad back, afther all that a job well done lol, the sweet Sound!,
of victory lol or what ever lol.
I have no CATS, straight through mufflers of the lowest backpressure (Ultraflows), but the exhaust does pass through the turbine wheel which quiets it down.
It sounds very good, unlike any other one out there. Louder then stock, but a nice rumble.

I've done it. It WILL be too loud and you WILL become a target for blue lights. trust me.
If you do remove both cats, replace them with at least a 12" resonator muffler like a cherry bomb style. they're cheap and flow, but will take the edge off the exhaust note.

Shorty headers are a waste of money, just save your pennies and get LT headers!

I just purchased the long tube set up from stainless steel works. I got the engine back system. With ceramic coating. $2100.00 to my door. Havent installed it yet.
I just purchased KOOKS long tube headers jet hot coated high flow cats and all the piping back to the mufflers with a custom X-pipe for $1,950

I have no cats. I have shorty headers (which are not a waste of money as they can be had for cheaper than LTH and definitely *DO* add horses). The car is NOT too loud. I like it. I might tone it down some, but it's not because it's overdone - I just like quiet some of the time.
No emissions inspections in IA. :) If they start some, I'll register the car as a collector since it is not a DD and sits in the garage unless it's sunny and above 50 degrees.

I don't know exactly what power increase it has but I noticed better mid-high range power and knocked off .12 off my 1/4 mile time. I also had Flowmaster 40 series. Yes it will be a little louder especially if you have res-delete tips.
