Another Photoshop experiment. Can anyone tell me if this looks ok on their monitors? If not, is it too bright, or dull and drab? It looks great on my Casy Anthony monitor that never tells me the truth :banana:, but I have no idea how it will look on someone's calibrated monitor.

Yes, I know. It's all part of the blurring effect that Photoshop did to my car. I really only wanted my inserts and my tag to be in focus.

I think it looks cool,how did you do that?Thanks chader. Photoshop has a filter called Blur, which has several options. The one I used is called "Radial Blur". Basically, it has a grid that you move around in your picture. In my pic, I centered it at the back of my Marauder. You then adjust the degree of blur, and once applied, it will blur everything away from where you center it.

It takes some time to get it just right. Anyhow, I hope this helps. If you have Photoshop and have more questions, just let me know.

I personally first saw this type of photography still using a Nikon 6006 with film and a long lens.

We would use a long(er) shutter speed and turn the lens by hand while the shutter was open.

This gave superior results at night while looking at buildings that had a lot of neons.

The image appeared very similar to what you have posted.
Results vary of course. Handholding and zooming the lens proves difficult.

Results vary of course. Handholding and zooming the lens proves difficult.Yes, you are right Cruz. I remember doing stuff like that too. The problem though, as you said, was not knowing what you had until you got your prints back from the photo lab.

And, you can still do that today with your digital cameras. Being digital hasn't changed the ability to zoom, or move your camera during long exposures, but it has gotten rid of much of the costs of film and lab processing expenses, which has helped me pay for the fancy software that I am able to use to do this. :)

That's how we did it!

Now try it at night with a nicely lit and colorfull object.
Preferably with a lot of neon and / or colors.

Yes, I do have zooms. I have the 24-105mm F4.0 and the 24-70mm F2.8. I know they are somewhat redundant, but my Canon 5D came as a package with the 24-105. I was waiting to see which one I liked better, but they both have their advantages and so far, I have kept them both.

No, I won't trade my 85 for your 18-55. :banana:, even though 18mm with the full frame sensor of the 5D would be great. The 85mm F1.2 is just a killer piece of glass, and will probably have to be pryed from my hands before they could ever bury me. :beer:
