I'm curious as to how many here are original owners. I see new folks join on a regular basis and wonder what generation owner they are?

I bought my DTR new on 07-02-04, 1st gener :D

Sorry, I didn't think we went out that far yet. So did the previous owners treat the car special so you'd have a legacy?

Coming in as 3rd Generation. Original owner kept car from time of purchase in late 02 through August of last year (07). Second owners son worked at local dealership where original owner purchased and he was the only one worked on the car. When original owner traded for a expedition the son called his dad and he came and bought. Back in April I found this car on ebay. I asked why he decided to sell after a short while and he said he did not feel comfortable with his wife driving and being afraid something would happen to it. It had 38k miles in April and now has 45k. Dennis put the excal 2 in back in July for me when we went to Daytona for vacation. This car is awesome and is definitely mine from here on out. Parked to keep miles as low as possible. Still drive locally and turn a lot of heads. Especially the "popo".

Well, I'm counting myself as an original owner, even if I bought the Bluesmobile used.

I bought my DTR new, and if it hadn't been wrecked, I'd still be driving it.

I'm 2nd generation here. The 1st owner put 7500 hard, Woodward Blvd cruising, two foot brakin' miles on her before driving through wet paint and possibly sliding through a chain link fence driver's side first (see pics in my gallery). After all that, it was a lease that got repossessed. I got her with most of the body work repaired but with other issues like replacing front brakes @14k and rear pads and rotors @ 9k. I also replaced the 3rd brake light bulbs and flushed the brake system.

I am the third owner of a near pristine Marauder.

Both prior owners, especially HwyCruiser, took immaculate care of my Marauder. It rarely saw any wet weather and has no dings. It also received frequent Zaino treatments.

God willing, there will not be a fourth owner.

Sorry, I didn't think we went out that far yet. So did the previous owners treat the car special so you'd have a legacy?

heh, it was with the first owner for the most amount of time till around 12k I think then was sold then the last owner had to sell it as he needed the money to move into a bigger house for his growing family, at least that's what they told me.at the father son dealership in Penn.

Also the car is on its 4th owner legally, as its in my dads name to save me the high insurance rate, although I did pay for most of it, and pay for upkeep and gas, so as soon as I'm 25 the car'll be signed over legally even though I'm the ONLY one who drives it, and hopefully by then I can retire it from DD life.

It may have changed hands a few times, it only had 27K on it when I bought it last year, and I have put on 6k since then, and all the great stuff still came with the car. Including the jacketed manual, the door pad code card, the mercury guarantee card with the original owner's name on it, the original window stick a portfolio half filled with articles on the marauder, the big advertising poster, a clock like on ebay and one of the novelty parking signs that say MM parking, all others towed. :D

And I can happily say I've build an even greater pile of swag, among the top items are the key chain Mercury gave away, an issue of the dealer magazine Front line introducing the MM, the original mini-cd with the MM screensaver, the dealer VHS that showed the sales people how to sell the MM, many more articles on the MM, and other stuff that I can't remember at the moment. I can say if I ever have to sell my baby, the guy who get's her will get a gold mine of swag, although I will offer to sell any of the rare swag here first.

PS I wish I knew that polls could be changed without closing them, I would have waited to vote instead of just voing 3rd owner.

no regrets big dog, no regrets!

I had a '70 X-100 back in the day:)

My Father owned a L&M dealership for many years.

There are items on the car that many of us wanted to see make production but no no regrets.

I have never had a ownership experience that could ever equal this one.

The really cool people I have encountered has make it all worthwhile:up:

I bought the Marauder leftover in Jan 04. It was a 25th anniversary car. By that, I mean it was the 25th anniversay of my last new car, a 79 Mustang I bought new right before I graduated from HS. I've bought new cars since then, but they were all for my wife - none for me. Might be another 25 before I buy another new one for myself.

Bought mine new almost 5 years ago to the day.

Since I bought it, I'm willing to bet I've let upwards of 50 people drive it. Since supercharged, easily 30 different people have driven it. I drive it to work about once or twice a month and there is always someone different asking for a ride. I just throw them the keys and tell them to turn off traction control, it's a lot more fun. Nobody is ever disappointed.

I bought a 2003 Blue in May 2003. An extremely enjoyable car which combines a rare blend of sport and comfort. Maybe Ford or GM will make a similar car in the future. However, the greater likelihood is that the Marauder is the last of a breed. I once read an article that someone bought six Ford Model T's before production ended. In his mind, no newer car would be superior. He drove them one after another until he quit driving. Maybe someone will buy multiple Marauders to duplicate this feat.
