Well I got a new 2008 GMC Sierra 4x4 extended cab sitting in the driveway tonight. It was time to trade in my "baby".

MM prices are starting to appreciate. Dealer offered me 13K for my black 300A with 39k miles. Better than what it was a month or so ago.

With the employee pricing and 5K rebate it was pretty much a no brainer. I've wanted a 4x4 for quite a while and finally have one. Sonoma red with a light platinum leather interior. The 5.3 runs pretty smooth but not quick as the MM, but then again they serve 2 different purposes.

So my MM has to share the driveway with a GM product. I hope they get along. Say, you didn't think I traded the MM did you?

My baby was the Hemi powered Quad cab whose only fault was its drinking problem. Mileage had dropped into the 10.5 to 12 MPG range so it was competing with the MM at the fuel trough. I just asked the dealer to see what he would give for the MM as we also test drove a Pontiac G8 GT. Rick

How was the "G8 GT"???

My Hemi Quad Cab gets 16-17 MPG around town and 20+ MPG on the interstate at 70 MPH.......above 70 the mileage goes down fast since it has aerodynamics of "Da Brick"!!!

If I didn't need to be able to haul the occasional item and want to keep the MM there would be a G8 in the driveway instead of the Sierra. Even with employee pricing it was still $32k, way over my budget if just trading my Hemi. (I'm retired on a fixed income)

It was quick, quiet, comfortable and well finished. Long term it might be a problem if it goes the way of the GTO. It doesn't have the parts base of the panther platform.

I'd probably have kept the Hemi if I had gotten your mileage. Mine was a 2003 without the cylinder deactivation. I have a program on a PDA that I use to track mileage and maintenance on all my vehicles (boat too). The ram's mpg average over 5 years and 38k miles was 13.4. My best tank was 16.7 and the worse 9.2. Ever since the price of oil started to skyrocket my average mpg went down between 1 to 2 mpg. Its like they found a way to make gas cheaper and leave out some or the BTUs but still charge more. I always used E10 since its octane met the suggested 89 by Dodge.
