There was a Mercury version and a Ford version made,the orange one was the mercury Cyclone version if I recall correctly and the last I heard one guy owned both,but there were only a few made,not 500.
Maybe you're thinking of the Torino Talladegas and the Mercury Cyclone SpoilerII The Talladegas had 428 Cobra Jet motors with a bench seat and automatic trans with the shifter on the column,the front bumper was a Fairlane rear bumper modified for use in the front,the grille was pushed forward so the front end wouldn't act as a scoop. There were some other mods also.

There were only TWO of those made. That one in the picture & a yellow one. I have an article on them somewhere in my collection of magazines.
