I bought a set of the aftermarket ebay headlights last year & the quality looks good to me. I did not install them, they are just in my extra parts collection.

Some of you guys are funny, we're all basically driving $34,000.00 cars, yet when a part thats been on the car for awhile or since new needs to be replaced you look to "cheep out". Aftermarket parts are aftermarket for a reason, the tools to manufacture the part are not to the specs of "OEM". Why would you want inferior head lights?, why would you want inferior anything? Just shop around and find a good deal on OEM parts, thats what the internet is for. Be proud to keep your car up tp specs.

so does anyone know where to get oem online? My local dealers want 200 per light. . That's highway robbery. Plus assault and rape. LIFE IN PRISON! Has anyone bought new lights and were happy with them?

my local mercury dealer said that the new connectors are different from the old ones. Causing an additional expense. Aftermarket parts are fine unless their not the SAME. If their made in china.. Where most likely the motorcraft parts are made then who cares?

From my own personal experience, I bought headlights for a crown Vic Thur one of those parts warehouse places, they were most definitely not to the same quality of the OEM's. I told myself I would not do that on the MARAUDER, so I bought factory headlights and side markers. I was not influenced by price not because I'm rich, but because I was determined to have the quality that I thought my car deserved.

I bought a set of headlights from Rock for my 1996 F-350 and they looked great...worked great but I sold the truck and never saw how they last??:shake:

Spend the extra $100 or so and get the OEM's!!:beer:

+1 on the compound but do it with the light out of the car! If they are foggy on the inside then new lights are in order. I've seen used oem's on ebay go for about $100 a pair.

For starters, you can polish the lens to yield a clear finish. Kits are available at most auto parts stores.

I need to replace my driver's side one. Way too much condensation in it now and I have pulled it out and re-sealed everything on. Oh well I can use the factory one as my ram air setup when I'm at the track.

There's a guy here in Fort Myers and I don't know if he is nationwide (www.drheadlight.com (http://www.drheadlight.com)) and they do magic. My brother has a Lincoln Mark VIII and his lights looked like they were full of milk. This guy came over to Carfixers during an install and restored the headlights for $80.00 and they look better than new. The Lincoln has OEM HID's so the headlights were about $1,400 for the pair. The work this guy did was worth ten times the price.

I bought the ones from www.rockauto.com (http://www.rockauto.com) and just got them in today. They look great. They came complete with bulbs and everything.
I saw somewhere here that a set came that needed modifications...not these. They even had the dust cap with new gasket.

In my opinion, this was the way to go. I know one could clean up the old ones, but that isnt necessarily a guaranteed fix. These are AWESOME and were not too expensive. (although shipping to Guam was!!!)

You can clean the fog off the headlight, there are many many kits out there. Not as good as new but much better than not cleaned.

This may not make that much sense for our cars as headlights are cheap.

A friend, he is a travelling salesman, his mini van head light lenses are $400 each. He found a cheap place and only paid $735 including labour. He was thrilled to find out that there are kits to do this for $20 and some elbow grease ($0-$99/hour depends where you buy your elbow grease).
